That's a whopper.........

Sometimes I just get the urge to sit and knit.

I’m not good at it so it has to be something very simple that I don’t have to 

give much thought to while I’m doing it.

I found this mahoosive ball of wool for £7 on the wool stall in Todmorden Market Hall.
 It’s more than enough to make me a waistcoat like one
I did in green last time the urge to knit came over me.

When it’s done I’ll add some fabric pockets using scraps from my fabric stash

Thats all for now folks.

Sorry I can't join you for your meet up, I have got a letter from my Mum
to say why I wont be there though.
Maybe I'll get to see all you lovely Workdesk Wednesday ladies next time.

What's on my workdesk

Last Thursday I trundled off with my bag of stuff to our

monthly craft group meeting.

One member, Sheila, had agreed to show us all how to 

make these Christmas cards and another more complicated version.

I don't do complicated so stuck to this one.

I am still on with my knitting. The top one is another triangle shawl

and the bottom one is the back of  the garter stitch waistcoat I'm working on.

Apart from ramming all these crotchet flowers into this kilner jar

there is nothing else to see on my desk. No I haven't made them

before you ask haha.

So I will bid you all a creative and happy week

What's on your workdesk today

March already.  Hmm ! Think I might do a chart of the things I've 

made each month and the books I have read.

Hmm!  A creative year journal maybe.

(oh crikey I'm going off on one again)

Sticking with the knitting thing I've started a simple waistcoat 

now after the success of the triangle shawls

When I say simple, I mean it looks simple but my head is not

wired for following patterns or anything that requires precision.

Fortunately the very nice ladies in our local wool shop are more than happy to help.  

They looked at me in disbelief when I started scribbling and crossing out all over the 

brand new pattern.  Put it this way nobody will be asking to borrow it after me.

I am not doing the buttonie bits or the rib on the bottom and its being knitted 

in garter stitch (knit every row) instead of stocking stitch (knit a row/purl a row).

The thing is I don't want to put myself off and end up throwing it in a 

cupboard never to be seen again, so simple is best for now.

When I've conquered this I want to have a go at some fingerless mitts.  

They look easy enough and it will allow me to be a bit more adventurous 

with the stitches as there won't be much to pull back if I do it wrong.

Maggie has fantastic stock.  That's who I got my antique

petticoat off, that I am always flashing 

 There's pattern on this cotton blouse that I found in the charity shop.

And the reason for this overload of textures is because I finished knitting the triangle

shawl I started last week.

I got it from a local wool shop that has been there 

for years and the ladies are fantastic and don't make

you feel like an idiot when you haven't a clue what you

are doing.

Just to add even more to the concoction I got these Texting Mitts

They are only up the road from me in Burnley, Lancashire.

Love how they jumped on the techie bandwagon with their name for them
