What's on your workdesk Wednesday 

has been nosing around bloggers creative spaces for 

seven years now and to celebrate the friendships 

that have been formed members took the opportunity to make 

and post Artists Trading Cards to one another.

I was very lucky as I got an unexpected one from Jo aka Twiglet, 

as well as the one from Annie aka A Stitch in Time .

While I was looking for something amongst my box of treasures 

this week look what I came across.

Wasn't that a delightful coincidence.

A big thank you to Julia for keeping us all together and I hope you are better soon.

I have a massive thank you to give to Annie as she 

is working on a very very special superhero bunting.  

I think you might see some of it over at her place.

No desk to show this week as I am cleaning.

Not something you will see me doing a lot of.

But I do like wearing my vintage pinny to do it in.

TAG TUESDAY HAD A "SEWING" THEME.......

The theme  - sewing machine, needles, pins, threads, notions, buttons, hooks and eyes, poppers, things in your sewing basket, tape measure, stitches, stitch in time, vintage sewing ephemera, etc. sew something, put a stitch on there somewhere (even if it's a single cross stitch) 

So I put my pens and pencils away and decided to give it ago.
Out came the Bondaweb, handmade felt, beads, wire, needle and thread.

This picture is on the wall in my studio

 I remembered then some things I have done in the past on the same theme.

I gave this canvas to a dear friend for her birthday after she had admired it on my wall

No nasty bills today only goodies.

 this lovely crocheted peter pan collar from Natasja owner of

crochetime.wordpress.com 

Next an Easter Bonnet ATC (artist trading card) from Grace Lister who is a member of 

http://handembroidery.ning.com/

A great place for anyone who likes hand embroidery.  There's lots to see, a chance to show your own work, workshops, resource shops, challenges and lots more.

The card was part of an Easter ATC swap, the one I made went to a lady in USA.

 And lastly, get your hankies out girls, look at this little fella that

made for us from a photograph of Bobby our Papillon. Dont get upset those of you who don't know but we lost him last November.  Is'nt he a cutie and she has captured his expression beautifully.  Here is the picture she worked from.

 I've got a couple of things in the pipeline (just waiting for photo permission)  for next week or later this week that will interest you stitchers and button fanatics.

ARTIST TRADING CARDS....What are they ???

Some I attempted

Artist Trading Cards, or as they are more commonly known ATC's, or even ACEO's - Art Cards Editions & Originals

are small 3.5" x 2.5" decorated cards.

They can be created in any medium you like.... stitched, painted, collaged, printed, etc.

They were originally meant to be, and are still, traded amongst artist/craftmakers, swapped on the internet, classes, workshops and shows.

You can even buy them as small pieces of art from sites such as Etsy, Folksy & Ebay.

 Have a look at a monthly ATC challenge that goes on at www.thelinenshelf.blogspot.com

There is even an invitation to join them. Once there you can link onto other blogs and see even more cards.

The cards opposite are handpainted and collaged by Yvonne Stewart of Coramantic

The cards on the left have a painted background, then they have been machine stitched and appliqued.  They are the work of Sam Sargent of www.pantsandpaper.blogspot.com

The pieces on the top card are worked in one inch squares and are known as Inchies.

A CREATIVE WEEKEND

 Laura & Gareth's wedding invitations are

finished and on their way

 Laura came to help with all the fiddly beady bits  .

Next I illustrated another A4 Sketch/Notebook for the teachers at St. Edwards School and I have an order for another two.  They do look good with their names on and all the children love the Doodly Birds.

Here are some of the Doodly Bird fan club from Sunday School.
Olivia is making a song up about them.

  Before I went off to do my proper work (yuck) I put together this little pack consisting of an ATC - Artist Trading Card, a badge, some blank cards and a couple of postcards for a blogging friend of mine who is interested in ATC's.

On Monday I will be doing a feature on them.  What they are, how to make them, samples of some I have collected, books referring to them and to celebrate the fact that you are all still here after 100+ postings I will be giving a little something away from the Doodly Bird range.

So stay tuned......
