Cruise & Crochet

Cruise & Crochet

What a treat

That's what I got upto last night with friends

Sailing out on the good ship Prince Henry from Stretford Marina we travelled for two and half  hours through industrial Manchester to Castlefield Basin, now a conservation area, then back to Stretford

Cake had to be eaten along the way, provided by these lovely ladies,

Jo Johnson and Sarah of French Knots Craft Studio in Sale, Cheshire who put on the event.

The demon crocheters made these pretty rose brooches

This blue thing was my attempt.  I have now given up for ever trying to crochet.
My brain is just not wired for it

It was a fantastic evening laughing and crocheting with some lovely ladies

Now to the serious business of deskhopping over at Julia's place

Thanks for calling by
Lynn x
ps. I'll show you next week the results of my stitching project last week

Whats on my workdesk today.....

Its not my desk its my bed......
When I asked lovely Helen Witcombe Helen's blog link if she could make me a cover for my bed little did I realise how much of her time it would take.

First of all she made me this cushion to see if I liked the colours.  I wanted it to go with the latest picture from my friend textile artist Barbara Jepson who creates these fantastic pictures by batiking the background then she appliques on top with different fabrics and machine embroidery.  As most people know I am Barbara's number one fan. www.barbarajepson.com
NOW I am Helen's number one fan.  Look at some of the pictures she sent me of her progress.

 Here's Helen hard at work
Ta-dah here is the finished blanket.
Isn't it fantastic.
From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU Helen

What's on my workdesk today .......

I've got a few things to show you this week starting with this bracelet I am making after attending a workshop in Todmorden, Yorkshire at
Next up are the two Doodly Bird Compacts for a customer.
Followed by this vintage knitting pattern I picked up at Victoria Baths, Manchester on Sunday at the Vintage Home Show
These are not on my desk but they will soon be on my bed when Helen of www.helencrochet1.wordpress.com  has finished my crocheted blanket.
Last but by no means least, something very special.
This lovely Prayer Flag from my Scottish friend Mo.  It is a flag of peace that she made as part of a swap we are doing.  Included in the parcel you can see lots of goodies to inspire some collage work in my new sketchbook.
Which leads me finally on to say the new SKETCHBOOK FRIENDS blog I started last week is building up its own little community of creative people.  Some have created books/journals before and some are pure beginners.  Have a look, you might like it.

Back over to Julia now to see whats happening on some more desks.

Team DB gets its own bunting

Team DB has got its own bunting now
thanks to the wonderful work of Helen Witcombe.
I can't thank Helen enough it is absolutely fantastic
Look how she has made a marvellous felt Doodly Bird and put her own mark on the bunting with her owl design.
The colours of the wool are wonderfully bright and complement the Doodlies
Team DB are ready to hit the road.

If anyone would like Helen to make them a personalised bunting you can contact her by email at
 helencrochet1@gmail.com

Follow Helen's blog where you will see the process of the bunting being made

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU HELEN.  WE LOVE IT.
