Lockdown Diary - Ooh err ! matron

Instagram buddy Nancy has written this beautiful childrens book and her lovely daughter has illustrated it.  All the proceeds are going to The Brain Tumour Support Charity

Why have they done it ?

Because Nancy has cancer of the brain.   If you know her you’ll be aware that she doesn’t let it define who she is and even on her worse days will have something positive to say.

Turn away now if you’re squeamish

I did something on Wednesday I’ve never done before, I gave blood and yes I will be doing it again.

The nurse was telling me they had 140 people booked in to donate that day and that it would be the same all over the country and they do it four days a week.

It was well controlled and I didn’t feel a bit worried. Not even when I saw the amount of blood taken.  In fact I was amazed your body can afford to give that much in one go.

Under normal circumstances I would imagine everyone is quite upbeat and there’s lots of chatter. The nurse did say that Covid has changed the atmosphere, it was much quieter even with music playing.

Actually donating only takes 5-10 minutes and I was probably there less than an hour.  So if you’re thinking of having your blood sucked to help others- go for it, it’s easy.

Today (Thursday) we’ve been to check on the progress of our sofas being reupholstered.  We were allowed to have a sneak peep at them in the workshop and I was nearly squealing with delight, they are fabulous.  They’ve only got the cushions to do now so we should have them back Monday/Tuesday next week.  After that we will be on the hunt for a new carpet.  It’s all very exciting.

Tomorrow we have one lot of neighbours moving to pastures new and another neighbour and good friend celebrating her 60th birthday.  Looks like I’ll be up and down the lane with cards and presents most of the morning.

Thanks for calling by
Lynn
