What’s on your workdesk Wednesday - A silly grin.

It’s that day of the week again when a gang of us get together and see what we’ve been creating, or not as in my case most weeks.  But not this week folks.

My daft vibes must have set in after my zoom Pilates class this morning.  That and the fact I’ve just worked out how to do selfie’s on my new iPad Air.  Did I mention I’ve got a new iPad.  Heehee.

That’s not a frock I’ve got on, it’s a pinny a friend gave me for Christmas.  I’m wearing it so that wandering welder husband thinks I’ve been doing housework.

I haven’t really, I just put a load of pans on top of the cooker so he will think I’ve been cooking up a storm for his tea, when in fact I’ve been messing around most of the afternoon in my craft room so that our leader will know I’ve made an effort.

So here it is folks.  I’m joining in with my friend Anne’s tag challenge

The theme this week was SCRAPS

I did mine on the sewing machine, attaching little scraps of fabric directly onto the tag.

And there you have it.  Now I better get them pots and pans rattling.
Take care everyone. See you next week.

Hello to friend Peggy in Scotland who rang me to say how much she enjoys my blog.
You made me smile dear friend.

And so folks this was Sunday .......

How lovely to wake up to a morning without rain, snow or fog.

After a cup of tea, writing my journal and catching up with social media
it was time for a shower then my Sunday morning Pilates.
It’s a different practice to other days as I include a bit of reflexology.
Before lockdown I’d enjoyed regular sessions for years so I know the techniques.

Just after lunch we got wrapped up and headed out for a walk and top up of Vitamin D.
It was lovely to see families out enjoying themselves after being couped up all week.

We are so lucky to live where we do with countryside right on our doorstep.
I convinced Philip that tree hugging was good for him heehee.

I can tell my creative side is beginning to show itself as I’m looking at things differently.
Trees and walls take on a different perspective.

When we got home I dragged out a watercolour pad and found some old pieces in it from 2014.
I’ve no plans whether I’m going to be stitching, doodling, collaging or using some other sort of medium.
It will all work out organically.

I even dragged out a stack of textile/art books I’ve collected over the last 20 years.

But then all that was put aside as Sunday’s is the day for a catch up on the phone with my sister who lives in Oxford.
A quick text to say get the kettle on I’ll phone you in five minutes and that’s us lost for a couple of hours.

Philip’s turn to make tea, so it’ll be a gourmet meal of beans on toast
then an evening of telly watching.  Hopefully it’ll take my mind off a trip to the dentist tomorrow.

Hope you’ve had a good weekend.
We are moving forward folk.  Stay strong.

Saturday - A different kind of fiffing & faffing today

Hello Saturday

Dressed for the grand arrival of this

It’s a super textile piece by artist, author & tutor

I used some of my Christmas money to buy it.
I much prefer pieces direct from the artist or vintage pieces
to the mass produced stuff.

Before the pandemic I was like that with clothes.
They were either charity shop finds, vintage purchases -
like this tank top we found in a little vintage clothes and antique shop In Kendal, or made by British crafters like my allotment skirt from Instagram buddie Bodkincreates.

Playing around with the camera on the new iPad Air.
My old iPad had given up the ghost years ago and this is so much better than
Blogging with my phone.

As always stay safe and stay home if you can.

Lockdown Diary 2021 ...... the hole inspector

Friday morning rolled in with a low mist over the valley and snow on the hills.

Sat up in bed with the first cup of tea of the day I read for a bit, wrote up my journal and caught up on emails and social media.

After a shower and my usual morning Pilates practice and breakfast I got stuck into the day ahead.

There’s been a mahoosive hole in our lane for months and with the wet weather and constant daily use it’s now started to sink right across the tarmac.

I’ve given myself the task of reporting it to BT whose underground cables are the cause of it. Today’s job was to provide photographic evidence of said hole. Much more damage and we will be stranded up the hill, it’s started sinking on the other side now

Today’s planned job was to sort through a set of drawers in my craft room that haven’t been touched for years.

Ever had that sinking feeling that you wish you hadn’t started.  I walked away from it twice.

But look, now I’ve sorted all my tools into one drawer and the others are equally as tidy.

I text my Mum in the afternoon telling her I’d completely gone off the boil today and felt down in the dumps, it’s not often that happens.

In the end I put the heating on, curled up on the sofa and watched a bit of telly, hoping it would pass.

It did after a lovely tea of  Mediterranean quiche, vegetable rice and salad, a good catch up over What’s App with my niece, followed by a fit of laughter watching the BBC 1 programme ‘Would I Lie’ to you.

And now it’s
Saturday 16th January

Today would have been Auntie Gladys’s 89th birthday.
I miss her and her funny and fun ways.

Time for tea and Tony now.

Happy weekend everyone
Stay safe and well
