Lockdown Diary 2021 ....... patchwork wallpaper

I’ve woken up to different weather every day this week. Today it was snow and rain.

Most of the day was spent working in the office.
I’ve shut the door as it’s such a tip.

After straining the brain it was time for something completely different,
like Instagram chum Deedee’s gorgeous hand decorated wall.

Dee has painstakingly cut out hexagon shapes from vintage wallpapers,
then using wallpaper paste attached them to the wall.

I love the effect so much I decided to have a go myself.

I’ve cut oblong pieces because it’s only a strip of wall I want to cover.
Oblongs are less fiddly as well.

After measuring and guilloting the pieces I’ve used a glue stick
as a temporary adhesive.  Once I’m happy with the layout I’ll
stick them down with wallpaper paste.

Today has flown by as does every day.

Hope you’re keeping warm and safe.

What’s on your workdesk Wednesday ..... Week 606

Don’t faint Julia ..... but here’s a picture of my desk haha. Can’t remember the last time that made an appearance here.

The thing is I decided rather than have three rooms that are a tip ... craft room, office and back bedroom,  I’d cut it down to two and clear up my craft room as it’s a nice place to be.

When I’m brave enough or drunk I’ll show you the absolute shambles we call the office.

There’s every chance the channel 5 Hoarder programme will feature us in an episode, as there’s only about an inch of space on the floor in there now.  Shameful !

On my desk there’s three images of women at work, that I found in my favourite online shop

They are prints but have the texture of real paintings.  There’s something about them that draws me in, so I’m going to prop them in front of me and use them for inspiration.

With them are two antique children’s garments, I’ve had for some time  that I’m going to stitch words and patches onto.  I have a little collection of them can you see them on the trellis wall. They’re mounted on old tapestry frames.

All the fiffing and faffing about I've been doing is bringing out my creative side.  It’s a place I haven’t visited for some time and I’m feeling quite excited.

I’m not rushing down the path to it though, I’m just meandering along seeing where it takes me.

Hope you’ll come back and see where I end up.

Stay safe and stay home if you can.
Thanks to everyone who popped by last week

Lockdown Diary 2021 .......... Oh what a beautiful morning. Oh what a beautiful day.

After days and days of waking to a wall of fog this was this morning’s view.

It felt like Spring was in the air.
So after a cuppa and an update of my journal, we went for a ramble over the moors.

We avoided walking down the lane as it’s still icy and headed uphill.

To have this on our doorstep has been a godsend this last year.

This woolly wasn’t impressed with us invading her space though.

Back home and it was a quick change of clobber and off to Mum’s to treat her to a chippy dinner.
She went down to town on the bus yesterday to have her vaccine jab.
At 88 years young she is fiercely independent and just gets on with things.
We are very proud of her.

Here’s the only photo we have of all of us. Taken 15 years ago on my 50th birthday.

As always take care out there if you have to go out.

Lockdown Diary 2021 - Saturday 9th January.... Nothing to see here again

Saturday 9th January 2021

Absolutely nothing to see here,  even the birds are flying by as if to say where’s everything gone.  The thick fog has blocked off the view of the fields across the valley and it doesn’t look like it’s going to shift anytime soon.  It’s amazingly quiet and the snow is not shifting.

I started the day of with a bit of reading and a cup of tea in bed.  I’m currently reading Kate Humble’s book A Year of Living Simply. I’ve just noticed she’s got a new series starting on Channel 5 on Sunday at 9.00pm, called Escape To The Winter Farm.  If you saw the first series you will know it’s filmed at her farm in Monmouthshire.

Most days I write up my journal in the morning. It’s full of my ramblings as well as facts about the awful situation we are all in. Maybe one day in the future someone will pick my journals up and think crikey what a time that was, or more likely crikey that woman could spout some rubbish haha.

After a catch up with social media I headed for the shower and then spent around 30-45 minutes doing my daily Pilates.  I’ve started to vary each session.  Today I worked through it in a somatic manner, making each movement slow and flowing, connecting brain and muscle.  Some days I do it to a count of the breath and others working through the positions at a faster pace.  I’ve found that the chatter in my head is becoming more positive and I can bring myself back into the moment more easily when my thoughts start to wander.  Years of attending Pilates classes at my physio clinic are paying off.

After a breakfast of porridge and berries and another cuppa thoughts turn to what we will have for the evening meal.  Homemade vegetable soup tonight I think and we can finish off the tasty mixed seed and rye sourdough bread we picked up on our shopping trip on Wednesday.

Postman Sid arrived with the long awaited Christmas present from my sister.  We’ve no idea where it’s been all this time.
I may just have to flounce round the house with it on my shoulder until we are allowed out again.  It’s from a British Etsy shop

Today I’d given myself the task of clearing out the space under my craft desk.  I’ve no idea when it was last done.

There was stuff under there I haven't seen for years.  Like this basket full of papers.

And I found a lovely box of fabrics as well.
I wonder if I’ll get the urge to start crafting again after all this clearing and sorting.

My Mum has got a date for her Covid vaccination, it’s Monday.  I’m hoping she will be having the Oxford one so that she doesn’t have to have another.  Either way what a relief that she’s getting it.

Saturday is generally radio 2 day in this house, except we skip the Graham Norton show. Then when all the singing and dancing is done, it’s a night with the telly and maybe a beer or two for Philip.

Take care as always
