Lockdown Diary 2021 ....... patchwork wallpaper

I’ve woken up to different weather every day this week. Today it was snow and rain.

Most of the day was spent working in the office.

I’ve shut the door as it’s such a tip.

After straining the brain it was time for something completely different,

like Instagram chum Deedee’s gorgeous hand decorated wall.

Dee has painstakingly cut out hexagon shapes from vintage wallpapers,

then using wallpaper paste attached them to the wall.

I love the effect so much I decided to have a go myself.

I’ve cut oblong pieces because it’s only a strip of wall I want to cover.

Oblongs are less fiddly as well.

After measuring and guilloting the pieces I’ve used a glue stick

as a temporary adhesive.  Once I’m happy with the layout I’ll 

stick them down with wallpaper paste.

Today has flown by as does every day.

Rabbits & Hedgehogs on the walls

We’ve lived in our 1950’s house for 29 years and upto 12 years ago it was a semi detached bungalow.  When the neighbours said they wanted to put a first floor extension on we said we’ll have some of that.

Actually they wouldn’t have got permission if we hadn’t extended ours as well.

At the time I said I don’t want a upvc door like everyone else.  After much eyebrow raising and sucking in of lips and shaking of  heads by the builders and joiners they agreed to fit what was once an interior hall door as a front exterior door.  It won’t last they said.  Well sorry to prove you wrong boys but 12 years later and it’s still on and hasn’t warped or let in water once.

Since the build we’ve never put a lick of paint anywhere and now we can no longer close our eyes to the dirty walls anymore so we’ve taken the bull by the horns and called the decorator in.   

The wall of flowers is going,  well most of it anyway I’ll just keep a few.  I’ve going back to wallpaper.  Your toes might curl up when I tell you it’s got rabbits and hedgehogs on.  You’ll have to wait for the reveal to find out I haven’t gone soft in the head.

The hallway is getting a makeover with a tartan paper and new carpeting for the stairs.

The en-suite bathroom is also going to be having a few rabbits and hedgehogs running around.  Looks like they’ve started chasing the ducks already 

And so it begins.

It’s took a while for us to get round to it, not wanting the hassle if it.  But now it’s getting very exciting

What's on my workdesk today .....

Am I the only one who can't stick to one job at a time ?

Am I the only one constantly sidetracked ? Tell me I'm not, please.

You see the roll of curtain header tape I picked up in the charity shop for £1.50.

Well that distracted me from the lavender squares I was making for my Mum and from doing more in making a book from a book. 

Instead I ended up printing and stitching onto it.

Then the fabulous piece of anaglypta white brick effect wallpaper I've been coveting and using as a backdrop for photographs suddenly jumped out at me as a possible backing for the stitched header tape

and I had the brainwave of making a wall of stitch 

Typical me, couldn't leave it there. 

No, my brain went into overdrive then thinking 

oh i could do a wall of

Fabrics

Buttons

Haberdashery

Please do not encourage me by suggesting any more "WALLS OF ......." or I will never clear this

Whats on my workdesk today

First up is a piece of the revised wallpaper sample for the Head Teachers office revamp.

Then a first draft of the mural I am doing on one wall.

Some books and bags screaming out for the Doodlies to jump onto them

and lastly a lovely package from Mr Postman John
