Since our return from the Lake District I settled into a round of taking folk to their hospital appointments Then on Friday we packed our bags once again, filled the Beast with petrol and set off for a few days in Haworth, Yorkshire , home to the Brontë family.
Our weekend away was a gift from our special friends Jacqui and John, not forgetting little Poppy dog, for my 70th in August.
We stayed in a beautiful Bed and Breakfast in the heart of Haworth. It’s run by a friendly couple who can’t do enough for their guests. Everything was tip top.
It was a perfect excuse to go in one of my favourite shops and replenish my soap stash. The Curiosity Society is filled with gorgeous perfumes and books
It was lovely to see all the old cottages, shops and cobbled streets of Haworth. Next time we will visit the Brontë Museum.
On the way home there was time for a stop off at an antique centre. We had a browse round but didn’t buy anything as our house is already like something of one of those telly programmes they make about hoarders.
I need to have a massive sort out at home this week as I’ve got some special visitors coming for the day and they are coming to see my studio after it was featured in Where Women Create magazine last year
So there’s no desk here this week and no more gallivanting about for a bit or will there be ? Heehee
Thanks for popping by
Lynn
So quaint thanks for sharing. Hugs Bj#7
ReplyDeleteas ever, I have huge days-out-envy. The joys of retirement for sure. Planning to share those old ice skates with Darling Daughter. She will find them appalling I'm sure. :) Good luck on your studio tidy and enjoy the visitors. The perils of fame... :D Happy WOYWW

Love Howarth but doubt i could cope with the hill these days. I always had to get a curd tart when there, from a shop on the left as you climb the hill and about half way up,. Best to go down and end up at the station.

ReplyDeleteHaworth definitely looks like my kind of place ... what a lovely gift from your friends! xxx
ReplyDeletePleased you're getting chance to get away. I love those old shops that sell such interesting things. I daren't go into antique shops anymore as I simply can't leave without buying something. Not been to Newark Antiques show for ages either. I'm sure you'll get away again soon. Wishing you a very happy woyww with hugs Angela x9x
ReplyDeleteLovely Lynn, you gallivant away! Very fond of Haworth, not far from my aunt's and always a favourite place, just love the indie shops and the big hill! Haven't been into the museum since I was a teen though, prolly should put that right this year - will be up with her in October because we're going on holiday together, so I have to get there before and stay a bit after! Your house doesn't look like an episode of hoarders, it's far more interesting and artfully arranged!
ReplyDeleteHaworth looks a lovely place to visit and the Curiosity Shop looks delightful. Happy WOYWW. Angela #13
ReplyDeleteHow nice of your friends to treat you for your 70th birthday. Haworth is such a lovely little town too. I enjoyed visiting the quaint old shops. Unfortunately, the museum was closed when we were there but it was out of season. Good luck with the sort out and with the visit. Elizabeth x #15
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being featured in the magazine - that's very exciting.
ReplyDeleteWe went to Haworth in 2014 and stayed there for a couple of nights. Jane Eyre was the first serious novel I read in Grade School and I wanted to see the moors in the worst way. We did two self-guided walks whilst there and I loved every minute of walking futon them - what a special place Haworth is - thank you for the beautiful photos, they bring back some wonderful memories!
That sounds like a wonderful trip. I’ve not been to Haworth but I’ll have to add it to my list. I hadn’t heard of the magazine but congratulations for being featured, I must look it up.
ReplyDeleteI’m catching up as we were out and about till now.

Haworth looks gorgeous and that soap shop got my heart racing. How I'd love some of those apocathary drawers to store my earrings!
ReplyDeleteYou should charge and entrance fee for visiting your fabulous studio, you're a celeb! xxx
