Hello desk hoppers its been a busy week in the Holland hideaway
and it the 12th anniversary of us all meeting up together for Julia’s
Over the weekend I spent hours with Alexa crooning out songs
Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong while I got down
to stitching for my No Rules Textile Society project.
I’ve gone through so much thread I’ll be off to the haberdashers
to stock up again this week.
There has been playing with dissolvable fabric, needle felting and free machine embroidery.
There’s more to do on this yet.
But here’s some hangings I finished, using vintage barkcloth,
cotton gingham & a plain green cotton.
From the notes made during our zoom meetings I’ve surprised myself
by managing to incorporate every technique we were shown.
Talk about being teachers pet. I did have an apple ready just in case.
There’s a long way to go yet in knowing how to work the Zoom thingymebob properly,
but like the wandering welders always says - You are very persistent and won’t give
up until you’ve cracked it.
Speaking of which, has anyone who uses Blogger had a notice to say that in July email
notifications of new blog posts will no longer work. If so have you managed to work out
how folk will be made aware you’ve written a new blog post.
Better get to work on the anniversary ATC and sort a postcard out of where
I live for whoever is next after me on Julia’s link up today.
My sister is coming to stay for a few days tomorrow. We haven’t
seen her since October, I’m very excited and flexing my arm muscles
ready for a big hug.
Have a good week folks.
Lynn

Wahooooo. You’re my pay it forward so I will now go and put you a little goodie bag ready to send 🥰🥰🥰🥰
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Annie x
I’m excited about that Annie and broke it into a big smile when I saw it was you xxx
DeleteHappy 12th WOYWW! More gorgeous fabrics and ideas on your desk today, I do love the projects you work on, so clever. Gorgeous tulips too, enjoy the hug with your sister!
ReplyDeleteHugs LLJ 3 xxx
Those wall-hangings are gorgeous, such lovely spring-like colours! No wonder you're the teacher's pet.
ReplyDeleteJon's making me have an old mobile phone of his so I can have that NHS App thingy and hopefully be able to cross borders and prove I've been vaccinated, it's been so many years since I handled a mobile phone I'm panicking already!
I haven't had that message but there again I don't get email notifications about blogs, I just read what pops up in my side bar!
Have a wonderful time with your sister! xxxx
If you are using an NHS App thingy then you’re a better woman than me. I haven’t a clue about that. I do carry my vaccine card round with me though.
DeleteIf we went in a pub where drinks had to be ordered and paid for online we’d die of thirst as neither of us can do that. Philips phone is like a brick it’s that old and I’ve no inclination to get into that way of things.
I’ll just see what happens with the email thingy, a few folk have mentioned it. I have a number of followers who don’t do blogging or commenting themselves but read my blog. It would be a shame for them not to see it xxx
Hi Lynn, gorgeous work as always - I do love your little hangings, they have a great 1960's vibe. Yes, I've had a couple of worrying emails from somewhere saying my email notifications will be ending in July but I have absolutely no idea what to do about it, or even how it will affect my blog - I've managed to bury my head nicely in the sand about it all until you mentioned it just now!! I thought they might give us an alternative to do and make it easy to click on something and problem sorted but it doesn't look like that's going to happen!
ReplyDeleteIf I discover anything I'll let you know,
Happy 12th Anniversary,
Diana xx #18
Happy 12th anniversary! Your little samplers are lovely - you must be a star pupil! Have fun with your sister. Annie and I have just had a coffee to celebrate and sort our ATCs to post. xx Jo
ReplyDeleteYour textile work is always such a treat to see! And the samplers are adorable. I think they look fab as a trio. Weirdly, Wordpress notifies me of comments on all my posts but one (one that I have a download attached to) and it is super annoying. Why would the Blogger software not notify people that you have blogged?? Both seem like bad programming to me! Ah well, you know we will all be round for a look at least once a week :D
ReplyDeleteHappy 12th Anniversary to all my desk-hopping mates!

Wow Lynn. Once I start going to fabric stores again, I'm going to get some of that disolvable fabric. And I also LOVE the little wall hangings you have created. Nicely done with the fabric and techniques. Thanks for the earlier visit. Happy 12th Anniversary from # 10.
ReplyDeleteLove the colours in your hangings - wonderful and vibrant! How lovely to be able to hug your sister again too! Anyway, happy anniversary! Lisa-Jane, #2
ReplyDeleteLove the interesting textures and techniques on your hangings. Happy 12th WOYWW Anniversary. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#15)
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn, loving the wall hangings, great choice of colours. I can't help you with the blogger thing as if it came I must have missed it. I must have a look for it. Have a lovely creative WOYWW Anniversary. Hugs, Angela x25x
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW Anniversary! What is bark cloth? Yes I have noticed the blogger thing and I did try to find out more, but I got more confused! I clicked on learn more and it took me to a page: How to export your email subscribers to a CSV. I don’t know know what that is so I thought I would pretend I hadn’t noticed. Angela #23
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW - your weekend music choices were right up my street! I did get the notification from blogger about feedburner (didn't know I had it) but not sure if I have many email subscribers. I couldn't work out what to do either so may lose some followers! Have a great time with your sister. Helen #11
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn. happy anniversary. Firstly, have a wonderful time with your sister! Enjoy every moment and hug. h my goodness - those sample pieces bring back some memories! Dissolvable fabric, free embroidery, needle felting... Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.
Margaret #25
What pretty hangings and what a clever girl you are.
ReplyDeleteNope, not had any notification like that about Blogger - hope they are not changing stuff again.
Enjoy your time with your sister - mine facetimed me yesterday - from Oz. A bit too far to come and stay.
On checking seems as if my comments have gone awol. I would hate not to comment on such an auspicious occasion as today.
Happy Anniversary!
Hugs, Neet 1 xx
Enjoy your sister's visit Lynn. Loving the latest hangings and techniques. Not sure about the blogger changes. I share my posts on FB anyway. Stay safe and happy 12th anniversary WOYWW. Sarah #9
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteLove all those textile projects. Would really like to try some of them... I did have my sewing machine out this week but I have various felting ideas on the to do list!
Happy WOYWW!
Susan #31
Loving those vintage barkcloth and gingham hangers, Lynn, as well as that dress I already admired on Instagram.
ReplyDeleteAs for the email thingy, yes, I saw that too, and I haven't got a clue. Like Vix, I read the blog posts which pop up in my sidebar, plus there's the behind the scenes reading list. I have only added the follow by email thing as a couple of people asked for it anyway.
Have the most wonderful time with you sister! xxx
Hi Lynne - hope you are well - lovely to see all your goings on. Stay safe & well - see you next WOYWW - Cheers Maureen #26
ReplyDeleteMost intriguing fabric collage works this week, Lynn. I hope you enjoy the visit of your sister - nice to get together.
ReplyDeleteWordpress gives me notifications all the time. I do have a friend, though, who cannot get notifications of when I publish a new post - not sure why not! Web weirdness abounds...
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi x #29
Ah Lynn, by now you and your sister will be well established and the wandering welder will be bustling like a good in. I’m excited too, my baby gal coming home this evening, haven’t seen her for real since September! Oh I may need to hold her hand for a few hours! There is an answer to the email thingy, another set up is taking over, I’ve had an email from them. When I’ve looked at it properly, I’ll see if I can help. Do not,you know better than to hold your breath though, huh! Loving the stitching and singing along, sounds like the perfect antidote to this horrible weather. I don’t think I could have taken an outdoor shot all week!
ReplyDeleteHappy 12th Anniversary! Love all your hangings especialy the drawers/cupboard they are hanging on! Yes I saw that email about the blogs. Makes me think they want blogger gone. It'll be Lovely to see your sister again, stay Safe!! ((Lyn)) #5
ReplyDeleteHappy 12th anniversary Lynn. Your hangings look great - lovely colours and textures. Enjoy your hug with your sister. I can't wait to hug mine, but sadly no idea when that will be as she lives in Canada. I didn't see the email about blogger - I'll wait for someone to come up with a solution! Have a lovely week, Heather xx #20
