Whats on my workdesk today...

 I wanted to show you the pictures from the lovely day I had with Anne Redfern www.bollyanne.blogspot.co.uk and my friends Susan and Ruth at my house.

 This is the second time Anne and her wonderful man David have visited us. Her generosity of time and materials never ceases to amaze us. That is to say nothing of her great talent for papercrafting

 We made these lovely cards, some paper flowers and the boxes above and Anne left us kits to make this lovely paper bag book and two Christmas cards.

  Time went all to quickly.  I so enjoy Anne and David's visits and can't wait to see them again.

 She also gave me this beautiful card holder from America. Here is a link to the lady who made it

Christmas is in Autumn

Well it was at Sunnybank Day Centre's Craft Club yesterday.

Members made these felt Christmas trees

93 year old Lily was struggling with the sewing so we cheated and glued her beads and buttons on.

Susan's own felt decorations

 After a cuppa we all sat back and listened to what factoids Susan had come up with this time.

They are never what you expect.  So, no they were'nt about Christmas.  She said that we had jumped a season by doing the felt trees and so after reading out some poetry by Keats we were expected to know that she would be talking about AUTUMN.

Now unfortunately Pauline made off with the sheet of facts so I can't let you in on the pearls of wisdom thrown at us, but suffice it to say they were as usual funny and informative.

One snippet I remember was that on the first day of autumn and the first day of spring if you stand an egg on its bottom it will not fall over.  It only works on those particular days appparently. So get that in your diary to try out.

Susan did tell us about going to see New England in the Fall and only seeing one tree and that was on a car park. Apparently they had got there to early.

LINO PRINTING WORKSHOP no. 2

Lucy Bishop held the second of her Lino Printing Workshops on Saturday and we had people coming in from all over North West England and what a nice and talented group they were. I didnt join in this week, instead playing host and chief brewer.   Ive crammed as many images in as I can, so that you will see everything they did.

Jo Pritchard came from Liverpool and brought us all a name badge which she had made herself. She showed us how to scratch our names into the board and how to enhance the design by scratching round the images.  What a lovely way to start our day.  Jo was a natural at lino cutting, look at the fabulous dragonflies on the bag she printed. 

Annette came from Prestwich with her friend Anna and printed some beautiful almost 3D butterflies on her bag.  I love her bird design with an apple on its head.

 

Anna did an Angie Lewin type design on her bag and did a block print similar to the one I did last week. Her bag has a nice layout.

 

I love these lino cuts by Carol they are so beautifully done.

She also brought her handmade Journal along to show us.

  Barbara Jepson did some lovely Christmas tags
I like how she experimented printing onto black paper and layering up stamps

 

and then made this tea towel with a great contemporary design using black and brown fabric paints.

 John Wolfenden from Littleborough created this wonderful tree lino cut and printed it onto a cotton tea towel.  In the past he has done a stain glass course and showed us this great image by using the lino print on the acetate he was using to roll out his paint.  I missed the little owl you did John.

It was a fantastic day and I met some lovely people.
