Buoy oh Buoy

TIME & TIDE was the title of my very talented friend Gemma Thorpe's one woman exhibition at Llanbedrog, Wales.
Set in a beautiful room which really lent itself to her coastal themed work with its white stone walls, high ceiling, arched windows and wooden floors we could'nt drag ourselves away and went back twice.
Gemma is very diverse in her art, she has created a lovely ceramic range of pots. I've got the teapot and a canister and intend building my collection up with more pieces
The lovely BUOY door stops are such fun and I was given one as a present.
There are cushions and Gemma's own designed mugs with knitted warmers
You wouldnt want to use these tea towels they are so nice just to look at.
And I just love this contemporary knitted jewellery.
I bought the green necklace and I already have a taupe coloured one which I wear a lot.
This collage is part of a tryptych on canvas
The light in the room was fantastic
Oyster catchers

Gemma will be launching her own website before the end of the year.  I will keep you informed.
If anyone is interested in purchasing her work I am going to be putting some pieces in my own webshop for her.  All the money will go to Gemma, I wont be taking any commission.  She is such a talented lovely girl I would like to see her do well.

Hope you've enjoyed seeing a little snippet of what she does.

What Postman John brought and other things.....

Thank you Postman John (he reads my blog) for bringing me lots of bits and pieces that are to go with lots of other bits and pieces for different events.. ... Scarecrow Festival, Birthday, Cardmaking workshops...
Thanks also to Anne for sending us a DVD of how to use the die cutter she so generously gave our little craft group.
Forgot to show you the beautiful flowers from Philip and the wonderful
(make you cry type) birthday card.

Here's Brian putting up the vibrant wallpaper in the Head Teacher's office.  Today we should start putting things back into place.
Some of the accessories I will be using to give it its finishing touches.  I feel like Lawrence Llwelyn Bowen, well more Lynda Barker I suppose.
Lastly has anyone got the name of the supplier in the UK for this jam jar diecut please.

Update on the head teachers office

 Do you remember this ?
Well now its looking like this
Yes the decorater is in, the furniture has arrived and by Friday we will be well on our way to having a bright cheery Doodly Bird inspired Head/Deputy Head Teachers office.

We have had one or two hiccups, furniture arriving to soon, a chair missing and damaged pinboards but the fabulous people at Hetherington Office Supplies have made sure that everything will be right for the start of the new term

Stay tuned for the grand unveiling

Bye for now

WOYWW - A DAY WITH REDANNE & HER DH

What a wonderful workshop we had at my studio on Tuesday.
It was lead by lovely Anne Redfern who loves papercrafting and the work of Tim Holtz, Dyan Reaveley, Hels Sheridan, Kath Stewart and Wendy Vecchi.
Anne brought these wonderful examples of her work to show us.
The purpose of the workshop was to show us how to use diecutters.  I could'nt believe how much equipment you can acquire when you become addicted to this inspiring craft. I also could not believe our good fortune when Anne gave us enough equipment for us to set up our own cardmaking workshop.

Here are some of the  cards we made.

This lovely canvas was given to me by Anne as a birthday present along with one of her beautifully made cards.

ANNE'S WORK

We all had a wonderful day and can not wait for the next one.
After we have tried our hand at cardmaking ourselves Anne is going to come back and teach us a few more techniques.

It was so lovely to meet Anne and her DH David.
Thank you both so much for your generosity of time and equipment.
You are such a wonderful couple and it was a pleasure to meet you at last.
Love Lynn, Susan & Ruth
