Love in a haystack

This year I celebrate 40 years of life with
the wandering welder.

During our courting days the song “Let’s go round again”
by the Average White Band was our song.

When I heard it on the radio this morning I
got all maudling and rushed into my craft room
to type the words onto this card and add the small piece of layered fabrics I did a while ago.
I’ll give it to Philip at Easter.
He’s quite a soppy thing really and will love it.

Now to find the blumming needle I dropped on the settee last night

Have a great weekend

A book from scraps

After seeing a blog friends handmade notebook
I started messing about with scraps of paper that
were on my desk and in the waste paper basket.

After cutting them all to size, layering them up
and making a centre fold I punched a series of holes
along the middle line for the binding.

You can see that I’ve used sewing cotton
as a binder.

And there you have it, a little book of scraps to fill with what you will.

The outer cover is a piece of wallpaper.

That's a whopper.........

Sometimes I just get the urge to sit and knit.
I’m not good at it so it has to be something very simple that I don’t have to
give much thought to while I’m doing it.

I found this mahoosive ball of wool for £7 on the wool stall in Todmorden Market Hall.
It’s more than enough to make me a waistcoat like one
I did in green last time the urge to knit came over me.

When it’s done I’ll add some fabric pockets using scraps from my fabric stash

Thats all for now folks.

Sorry I can't join you for your meet up, I have got a letter from my Mum
to say why I wont be there though.
Maybe I'll get to see all you lovely Workdesk Wednesday ladies next time.

Imagination and a bit of old junk

Some old pictures of pieces I made years ago
but the quote is new to me.

It reminded me of the junk I would bring home from my walks on the moors with the dogs.

Twigs and wire

Bits of tree bark

Barbed wire, burnt wood, sheep wool, seed pods

Last week I came across a quote from Albert Einstein that I blogged about.   This time I came across the quote above by inventor of the light bulb,  Thomas Alva Edison which prompted me to write this post.

Hope you like it and my junk art

From oils to ceramics. Prints and sculptures

On Saturday I visited the local art gallery

Susan Wilson- Self portrait with Clematis Wreath c. 1996

I was blown away with the current exhibition.
A display of over 200 works,  which is roughly 13% of their entire collection.  It is the most comprehensive public presentation of their permanent art collection ever staged.

It is displayed in order of how the collection evolved

Ceramic artwork

This one has enormous appeal to me.  I’ve always been drawn to flaking painted wood, rust and paper

This one made me laugh.
I couldn’t see anything about the artist or the subject so when I go back on my second visit I’ll ask about it.
