I'VE GOT SOME STASH....

My blog friend Mo in Scotland asked me what I had come home with from the Embroiderers Guild Cream Tea Event.
When I came to loading the pictures onto my computer I thought what file shall i put them under .  So I started a file called STASH.

The word STASH to me always represented the money you put away as savings for a rainy day.

Now it means all that stuff we buy and stash in cupboards and draws with the intention of putting to good use one day.

So this is all the stuff I intend using one day. Including these knitting patterns because this week Ruth, Sue and myself decided we fancied having a day knitting.  Its just an excuse to get together at one anothers houses,  have a nice lunch and cakes in good company.
Now this last bit of stash will be used when we go on Tracy's Jubilee cushion workshop in August.
It all came from that fabulous shop in Barrowford called Patchwork Chicks.

Looks like we are not going here so we might as well go there ...

Never one to look on the negative side the Doodly Birds decided that, I should go and help out at the Embroiderers Guild Cream Tea as it looks like we are not going to Art On The Prom.
The weather forecast for Sunday predicts wind and possibly rain and the poor things didnt want their feathers getting ruffled after they had worked so hard preening themselves for the great day.

St. Andrew's Church, Smith Street, Rochdale was the venue for this lovely event. Lots of people came in after they had watched the Olympic Torch pass through the Town Centre.

If you want to know more about the Embroiderers Guild check out this link
Members displayed their work, there was a sale of fabrics, books, stitch magazines and haberdashery bits and pieces, a raffle where all the prizes were based on the theme of flowers.  Even the table decorations were raffled off at the end.

The Doodly Birds are on full display in their Studio in Whitworth.
Email me if you want to visit, or have a look online in the Doodly Store
they are perching on some new lines now.

The last of Holker Hall and some quirky artwork

A COUPLE OF LAST IMAGES FROM HOLKER.  I LOVE THIS RUSTIQUE GARDENWARE AND IS'NT IT AMAZING HOW THEY CREATE THESE WONDERFUL SHOW GARDENS.

NOW OUR DAY AT ARNSIDE & SILVERDALE

THIS IS THE QUIRKY WORK OF JANICE McGLOINE WHO HAS A STUDIO SET IN THE GROUNDS OF WOLF HOUSE IN SILVERDALE.  WE BOUGHT THE PIECE BELOW (MINUS THE DOODLY BIRDS IN THEIR CARAVAN. THATS ALL TO DO WITH LAST WEEKS TAG TUESDAY CHALLENGE), IT IS ONE OF THE MAIN STREETS IN KENDAL.
JAN AND HER HUSBAND STEVE ARE ORIGINALLY FROM OSWALDTWISLE IN LANCASHIRE, SO SOME OF YOU MAY RECOGNISE HER WORK.  THEY MADE US MOST WELCOME AND IT WAS GREAT TO HEAR THE BACKGROUND STORY TO JAN'S WORK.
ITS A BEAUTIFUL STUDIO AND IF YOU GET A CHANCE TO GO TO THE ARNSIDE & SILVERDALE ART TRAIL FRIDAY 29TH JUNE-SUNDAY 1ST JULY, YOU WILL SEE IT FOR YOURSELF.
THERE IS ALSO WOLF HOUSE GALLERY AND A TEAROOM THERE. ITS A LOVELY SETTING.
HAVE A LOOK AT JAN'S BLOG AND WEBSITE
