Postman Dave's been ....

I arrived home from a great week in Witney, Oxford
visiting my sister to find that Postman Dave had
brought me this wonderful parcel from a very
talented and generous friend in California.

I'm going to be adding these vintage fabrics
to some patchwork curtains I'm planning to make for our bedroom

I have a box of goodies from Constanza that I received
some years ago and it is such a joy to dip in and out of it.
Sometimes using some of the treasures within or just simply admiring them.

Look at the beautiful embroidered pieces here - a brooch, a needlecase
and a gorgeous wall hanging which is so like the
style of stitching I am currently doing.

So much inspiration and kindness from across the pond.
  Thank you Constanza

Postman Dave's been ....

Look what Postman Dave rocked up with this morning.
Such a lovely surprise from dear blog friend Diana Taylor of Velvet Moth Studio.

Along with the lovely fripperies Diana sent me this Maddy McClellan
card as it reminded her of my Doodly Birds.

Well isn't that spooky as look what I've been working on.
They haven't been around for some time.

She often says that we are thinking in tandem.
Well I can't argue with that.
Thank you very much Diana, you are very generous.
Tania do you recognise the shiny feathers haha.

Happy weekend

Postman Dave has been ....

While we were at the caravan Postman Dave left me a mystery
parcel in our secret cubbyhole.

It was beautifully packaged and I had no idea who had sent it until I saw the smiley Freckleface cards and then I realised it was lovely kind friend Tania.
It was rammed with goodies, including the most fabulous tasting chocolate truffles.
Which of course I can't show you because they've been eaten, mostly by the welder.
I hope he can still get inside them boilers now he's stuffed his face.
Tania has set me a challenge to see what I will make with my lovely box of goodies.
Time to have a cuppa and think about that.
This little lady is sat on my desk now.

Thank you Tania I've really enjoyed opening all my parcels.
You have spoilt me.
And thanks Postman Dave you bring the nicest snail mail.

Postman Dave's been .......

Lovely Postman Dave has been today with this inspirational little word bobbin
made by the fabulous Tina Gilmore of Indigo Moon.
She is such a talented and lovely person.  Thank you Tina.

I've got a bit of a brown thing going on here with my pictures.
When we were in York over the weekend at the Festival of Vintage
I used it as a good excuse to visit Duttons for Buttons.
Well, its the equivalent of a sweetie shop but less fattening.
Its like stepping back in time in when you enter.
Have a look at the link for photo's.
Mr Dapper Chap picked up two Tootal ties and these lovely brogues
at the Vintage Festival
Don't think he will get his big toe in these little boots though.
The wooden chain is going to be revamped to include a textile piece.
I giggled when I saw this as I know you like a challenge.
So go on, what is it ?

What's on my workdesk today

Postman Dave brought me a lovely parcel of goodies yesterday
from which I produced these

Buttons and bows

I've also done a bit of rag rugging and made this cushion.

Well did you guess what this thingymebob is ?

It's an old clock repairers stand.
The clock would be trapped between the top bit which slides up and down and the pendulum hangs down through the fork piece at the bottom.

Have a great desk hopping day over at Mrs D's blog
