Friday smiles - Cows and dachshunds

I’m joining in with

Guaranteed to make the corners of your mouth curl upwards.
Anyone can join in

I’ve started reading Sara Cox book about her early years.
If like me you read in bed at night, you’ll find yourselves
chuckling out loud so give your other half fair warning.

My 88 year old Mum has been at it on Facebook again and somehow
managed to find and post these lovely comforting posters.

At the other end of the age scale our young nephew showed us the
fun he’s having with the new puppies.  He’s very good at taking
care of them while they get big enough to go to their forever homes
later this month.

Rosie, Molly & Dexter
Dachshunds

While I waited for the wandering welder to return from his
Covid vaccination I did the weekly debugging of facemasks.

Pour boiling water over non bio washing liquid/powder and give
them a bashing with the potato masher before leaving them
to soak for a bit. Rinse and leave to dry.

Here’s my lovely jug of tulips to remind you that spring
is on its way.

Have a lovely weekend.
Keep going folks
We are moving forward

No good moaning you’re putting weight on mate.

Our once a week trip out to Bacup for our shopping doesn’t half come around quickly.
On the way back from the market we stopped off at our local Tesco Express
to pick up milk and other essentials that we can’t get on the market.

Once home everything gets sanitised before being put away.

I’m always hungry, ready for lunch at this point and
the food washing seems to take forever to do.

But then there’s always shared sandwiches and cake
and at least two mugs of tea each as our reward.

The second half of the sandwiches and cake gets eaten
for tea around 7pm.

It was so lovely chatting to the traders, I had so many comments
on how much they enjoyed the blog post I did about them last week.

I’ve even got some new followers now.

The lovely folk who own Patisserie Chanel, where we buy our weekly treats,
said my blog was a burst of colour and happiness. Wasn’t that nice of them.
Look at the goodies we got this time. Everything is so light, tasty and fresh,
made with the finest ingredients.

Can I just point out these are not mine. The wandering welder will eat
them himself then moan that he’s putting weight on.  I’ve told him he
needs to get on floor mopping and vacuuming duties, that’ll soon shift it.

Mandarin cheesecake and an Apple & Caramel frangipane tart.

Some customers on the market even came upto me and said they’d
enjoyed my post, as did the lovely ladies in Mannings Bakery.

I’ve every intention of writing another post once lockdown is over,
and the government allow the non essential stalls to reopen.

Nice to see The Plant Dude back with a promise of lots
of colourful spring plants to come.

Tonight (Wednesday) we will be watching
BBC 1 - The Repair Shop
and
Channel 5 series - The Drowning
I’m hooked (excuse the pun)

Keep smiling, you’re doing great.

What’s on your workdesk Wednesday

It’s that day of the week where we grab a cuppa, settle down
and virtually get together with friends over at
What’s on your Workdesk Wednesday

Yesterday I sat watching the much acclaimed film The Dig starring
Ralph Fiennes, while I worked on a tag for friend and textile artist
Anne Brookes ‘52 Tag Challenge’ over on Instagram and You Tube.

I’m not doing the challenge every week, just joining in when I fancy.
This weeks theme was KISSES and I drew inspiration for mine
from a piece of art I have by St. Ives artist Sue Dove.

Rummaging round for my sewing stuff I came across this canvas
bag I started decorating at least two years ago, so the plan is to
get that finished next.

This one I did finish

I know we are all feeling a bit broken, confused and worried
at the moment but you know what, we are getting there.

Keep smiling folks, keep checking in on one another spring
is just around the corner.

See you next week you lovely lot and thanks for
calling by.

HELLO FEBRUARY .....

January is a month of rest after the madness of the silly season of Christmas.
Then February brings us snowdrops, daffodils and lighter days.

Fat Buddha is smiling, reassuring us we are moving forward.

And this was Monday, 1st day of February.
A beautiful crisp, bright morning and a reminder that 14 years ago
I was heading off to Australia on my own to see my beautiful friend
and her brand new baby.

When Philip dropped me at the airport I almost turned round and went back
home with him, we were both in tears at leaving each other.

So back to Monday. It was a day to catch up on housework.
Washing, strip the bed, vacuuming upstairs.
Then making soup for tea.

I don’t have the radio on much now as I can’t be doing with
the constant hourly news updates.  I’ve switched to playing
Alexa and when I’m cooking I have Jamie Oliver’s music
mix on. Good for dancing round the kitchen and singing at
the top of your voice.

I’ve had this book for nearly 20 years. It’s all about cooking with
seasonal produce, so it’s leek and potato soup for tea, using vegetables
from our local outdoor market.

TUESDAY

The plans for today are to clean out the bathroom cupboard,
prep the veg for tonight’s tea of veggie sausage & mash
before a zoom Pilates class with lovely Tracy from Bradley Physio.
Can’t wait to get back to attending my normal studio based sessions
and having a chat and a chuckle with fellow class mates, but I’m
ever so grateful to Tracy for keeping us going. Seeing her smiley face each
week is a tonic in itself.

As the weather isn’t great today I’m planning on having an afternoon watching
The Dig on Netflix, it comes highly recommend.

I’ll fit it in with doing a bit of stitching to show on Wednesday’s
usual show and tell work desk blog and planning menu’s and a shopping
list for our weekly visit to the market.
That’s providing we don’t get any more snow and can get out.

Whatever your plans are for today make it a good one.
Stay home, stay safe, we’re getting there.
