No good moaning you’re putting weight on mate.

Our once a week trip out to Bacup for our shopping doesn’t half come around quickly.
On the way back from the market we stopped off at our local Tesco Express
to pick up milk and other essentials that we can’t get on the market.

Once home everything gets sanitised before being put away.

I’m always hungry, ready for lunch at this point and
the food washing seems to take forever to do.

But then there’s always shared sandwiches and cake
and at least two mugs of tea each as our reward.

The second half of the sandwiches and cake gets eaten
for tea around 7pm.

It was so lovely chatting to the traders, I had so many comments
on how much they enjoyed the blog post I did about them last week.

I’ve even got some new followers now.

The lovely folk who own Patisserie Chanel, where we buy our weekly treats,
said my blog was a burst of colour and happiness. Wasn’t that nice of them.
Look at the goodies we got this time. Everything is so light, tasty and fresh,
made with the finest ingredients.

Can I just point out these are not mine. The wandering welder will eat
them himself then moan that he’s putting weight on.  I’ve told him he
needs to get on floor mopping and vacuuming duties, that’ll soon shift it.

Mandarin cheesecake and an Apple & Caramel frangipane tart.

Some customers on the market even came upto me and said they’d
enjoyed my post, as did the lovely ladies in Mannings Bakery.

I’ve every intention of writing another post once lockdown is over,
and the government allow the non essential stalls to reopen.

Nice to see The Plant Dude back with a promise of lots
of colourful spring plants to come.

Tonight (Wednesday) we will be watching
BBC 1 - The Repair Shop
and
Channel 5 series - The Drowning
I’m hooked (excuse the pun)

Keep smiling, you’re doing great.

Lynn

  2. Darling Lynn,

It is so good to support local markets. We have really missed seeing the friendly faces in ours as we have not left the apartment since March. We are certain that they will appreciate your support during these difficult times and how wonderful that they gave you such positive feedback on your blog post.

The cakes look wonderful Pure works of art and almost....almost... too good to eat. Somehow everything tastes better which looks better.

  8. You two would love combini egg Mayo sandwiches, even mum says they are better than home! And she loves purin, or creme caramel to you brits! We also have a nice selection of cream cakes as well.
The department stores we live near are like paradise, so many different little stores, I always go mad! Pompadour is my favourite bakery in okadyu but it isn’t cheap and I love their version of sausage rolls hot dogs in pastry but it’s the German sausages. Still can’t get use to red bean and natto though I give those a wide birth.
I noticed I was piling the pounds on, so I switched to veggie and I feel a lot happier. Take care and keep safe

  10. Aren't you lucky having all that on your doorstep. Covid has destroyed Walsall's 1000 year old market. It's supermarket or nothing for us.
Your sandwiches look very posh, the thought of them would have bme hungry all day!
    Love your shopping attire! xxx

    1. I think this is how we will always shop now. We love the friendliness of everyone and of course the fresh produce. We always come away smiling. We wouldn’t be doing that at the supermarket.
The sandwiches are massive, hence they do us twice xxx
