What’s on your Workdesk Wednesday

It’s not just toffees and beans that come in tin

This is what I created using an old tin at Saturdays workshop
I had a wonderful day with like minded people.
Lots of laughter and tongues sticking out in concentration.
It was like an Instagram meet up.
A lot like the WOYWW ones Julia arranges I imagine.

This is the one my cat mad friend Lyn made

And here’s the very talented Viv Sliwka aka Hens Teeth who facilitated
the workshop at Shed 76 1/2 at Rastrick Common, Brighouse, Yorkshire.

The curse of the creative eye

This piece of packaging was on its way to the recycling bin when the curse of the creative eye took hold and I ended up roaming round the house using it as a frame.

Creating collages of crafts and techniques I’ve previously tried is my plan for looking at what direction I want to go next.
I do admire you ladies that have a particular talent and build on it.  I’m more of a Jack of all trades and master of none.

You can see more of my collages in the last blog post.

A Sense Of Me

I’m trying to get a sense of me, of what I want to do next, so I figured if I compiled some collages of all the creative techniques I’ve tried over the years, it might inspire my next move.

Well here’s a thing, guess what, I still don’t know haha.

It’s okay though, all is not lost.  I’m now thinking I’ll begin the process of tidying and revamping my
workroom and who knows in going through all my stuff I may just find the trigger that sets me  off on my creative route.

I’ll leave these images here to refer back to for now.
I wonder how other people work out what it is they want to do.

There’s a new kid on the block

Look who has arrived.  It’s Alyssa Ivy weighing in at 6lb 9oz and is just beautiful.  Mum Emma and baby are both doing well and thank you for everyone’s good wishes last week.

Now back to the desk.
There’s a new book that I’ve lost myself in for several hours already.  The Myrtles are a group of textile artists  who have given us a look at their lives and homes in Cornwall.

There’s some antique quilt pieces that I may just sit and look at.  I should have a box labelled  “My box of stuff to Sit & Admire ”.  I’d have no problems filling it that’s for sure.

This was a little blouse I paid 10p for in the charity shop then cut up and stitched on.  At some point I will get round to framing it.

Sorry if I didn’t get round to your desk last week I was busy pacing the floor waiting for Alyssa Ivy to put in an appearance.

Well that’s January done with

January Scrapbook

Well that was a quick start to 2019.
Where did January go.

For me it went by quietly stitching, reading, trips to market and the library, dodging the snowstorms and a lovely at home movie afternoon with my best friend.  We watched a feel good film The Bookshop.

I’ve surprised myself by producing a book SOME PEOPLE.  It is made up of images of people I know and words that came to mind as I thought of them.  It’s a personal book just for me but husband Philip has claimed it for himself and won’t give it back.  He’s so sweet.  I enjoyed the process so much I’m working on another.

I’ll leave you with this silly picture to close the first month of the year.
Hope you all are cosy and warm in your homes
