How many courses can one woman do at once....

Oh quite a few really, its a well known fact that women can multitask. 

So here's what I am doing.  This is the art book I produced for the first of the lessons on the course 21  SECRETS.  The course is so called as there are 21 teachers who all teach a lesson (online) in different aspects of art.  

The task was to make a journal including stitched words on the front.

I then decided to do a page of it to link to another course I am doing called ALCHEMY, where you design and plan a piece using stitch. The idea came from a piece of work I have from textile artist HELEN MCKENNA.

 I am also doing an online course called EMBROIDER, EMBELLISH CREATE with

where we are making a wrapping cloth.  Instead of one large cloth I am going to do a series of small ones.

No I don't bother with housework, only when I know visitors are coming.

For the people who have'nt seen it yet and have been following along, here is my finished apron.

 Well thats my online Alchemy course almost finished and I am jumping right back in and starting another -  EMBROIDERY, EMBELLISH, CREATE.  This one is again with Karen Ruane who is a wonderful tutor, keeping us all on our toes and is always on hand to help.  There were 40 students on ALCHEMY and what a lovely community we all made, chatting, exchanging ideas and tips.  I'm sure the new class will be as good.

Now I've starting feeling my way with stitching I want to build up my skills and the new course will show me how to do lots of different techniques and will result in a beautiful cloth or clothes like this one of Karen's.

Look what Postman John brought me...

On a dull, wet Friday Postman John made the sunshine with the parcels he brought me.

 Some fantastic photo cards of the work of CAROLYN SAXBY along with one of her lovely beaded crystals and some midnight blue eyelash yarn.

 I know its not Christmas but I could'nt resist these white cards.  They are going on my inspiration wall to help me with the new course I am starting on Monday with Karen Ruane.

Speaking of Karen, my second parcel was from her in the form of this beautiful fabric & paper embroidery. It is stunning and that also will influence my forthcoming course work.

 I hope Mister Postie brought you something nice to chase away what has been a bit of a damp squid day.

That can't be my desk surely

Look at the state of my studio, I have tipped over onto every surface and even brought a piece of furniture in to house the sewing machine.  I must mean business.

The bottom of my apron is finished and is ready for pressing

and I have started working on the design layout. 

That is why I am in such a mess.  You can't even see the kitchen which has the iron set up and loads of bits of paper from the back of the bondaweb all over the worktops.

This is Hector and he has come to live at our house curtesy of my friend Helen who sent him to keep Kikki company. She is such a kind and talented lady.  Thank you Helen xxx

What to do on a cold dull day....

There is only one thing to do on a very cold, dull March day.

Switch on some ambient lighting, tune into Classic fm and get on with making the first pocket for my apron.

 I have used vintage ticking and trim and added the small embroidered pieces that I got for £1.50 each at the Antique Textile Fair on Sunday.

Next I pinned the the fabric and trim layers to the bottom of the apron and started my next pocket. Nice and warm in our house but this little lady still needs a walk

 Then settling down with a nice hot cuppa and a look through my latest book before preparing the evening meal.

The title is wishful thinking for me haha
