Strolling Just Strolling

Do you remember the tune
Strolling just strolling,
In the cool of the evening air,
I don't envy the rich in their automobiles,
For a motor car is phoney.
I'd rather have Shanks's pony,
When I'm strolling, just strolling,
With the light of the moon above,
Every night I go out strolling,
And I know my luck is rolling,
When I'm strolling with the one I love.
Flanagan and Allen sang it, then me as I strolled through
Healey Dell with Mr Dapper Chap after having a late lunch in the tea rooms.
Back home just before it got to dark to see our hands in front of our faces.
Hmm, must be a song in there somewhere.

Here's a two for one outfit I put together, sticking with the
autumn/halloween colours.
It's my Seaforth vintage blouse and  St. Michaels polyester frock

THANK YOU MR ARGOS

I didn't tell a fib in the Argos shop when I said I had a group of ladies who all wanted a catalogue and would it be alright to take a dozen.
"That's fine, take as many as you like" the assistant said.
Well they did have a crate full so I helped myself.
If you wondering what I want them all for, well its for
the first of my Christmas Workshops.
We are making Christmas trees out of - yes you guessed it - Argos catalogues.
I wonder if they will notice me sneaking in for some more
for my other workshops hee hee

WHAT'S ON MY WORKDESK TODAY.....

Don't the days fly by, here we are again seeing what everyone over
at Julia's blog has been upto since last week.
 WOYWW (link to Julia's blog)

My desk has a definite Christmas feel to it this week
and as the first of my Christmas workshops starts next
week I better get a move on with my preparation work.
After a look round the desks I'm off out for supplies.
Wishing everyone a great crafty week.

"Over and out" as my Auntie Gladys says
when she is putting the phone down haha.

Time for flat caps and cake

Dear reader

Today I am addressing the issue of what cap to wear and as Mr Dapper Chap has had to go out to work and can not advise me the only way to see if I looked okay was to take a selfie
No point in staying in mooching round the house, waiting for the other half to get back, when there is a Vintage Home Show to go to.
Hence the need for a hat.
So off me and Frida, my cyber green VW Beetle tootalled to the splendid Victoria Baths at Hathersage Road, Manchester where I met up with my vintage trader friends for a good chat and a look round.
It was fantastically busy and it was great to see the young people buying vintage/retro furniture and furnishings. It would be brilliant to see their homes or rooms and how they style them up.
No ikea furniture for these kids, they are to individual for that.

I picked up this fabulous writing desk/artist travel case
from the lovely Gemma of Gem's Bits N Bobs who also trades at Vintage Village Stockport www.thevintagevillage.co.uk
As you can see I've used it for my stash of greetings cards.
It may find another purpose as time goes on, like holding my notebooks, stationery, diary etc., we'll see.
The cards are made by talented friend Ruth Zanoni
A day out would not feel right without stopping off for a bit of lunch,
even if I am on my own.
Better save some for Mr Dapper Chap when he gets home from work.

WOULD YOU WEAR BLUE AND GREEN ?

 We've all heard the saying
"Red and green should never be seen except upon an Irish Queen"
I always thought it was Fairy Queen.
Did you know about this saying
"Blue and green should never be seen except with something in between"
What a load of bunkum, I can't see anything wrong with my outfit today.
My old blue Hotter boots (my version of the very expensive Duberry boots).
Gipsy green lace tights.www.gipsytights.com Blue & green Welsh Tapestry pinafore that I picked up in a lovely charity shop in Summertown, Oxford.  Blue Dereta crimplene coat, another vintage bargain buy. Forgot to photograph it but I used my blue Welsh wool tapestry bag as well.
Under the pinafore my old Boden shirt that cost per outing
must be nil by now I've worn it that much.
After yesterdays trip to the garden centre with my 82 year auntie I went back today for something to cheer my own garden up. I have to give auntie my full attention when we are out or she might end up in trouble or lost haha. Love her to bits.
Robins seemed to be my thing today and a bit of winter colour.
Yes we have mirrors and old screwdrivers in our garden
among other things
I might check out Victoria Baths, Manchester on Sunday its the Vintage Home Fair and see if anyone else is wearing blue and green.
