Whats on my workdesk today...

Well there is not a lot of work yet as we have just returned from a long weekend at our caravan in the Lake District.  BUT .... we did fall upon a fantastic garage sale and we were like a couple of kids in a toffee shop.
Here is a snippet of what we got.  Further info to follow another day when I get to have a good rummage through it.  I will tell you though that I got 12 hammers and about 6 pair of pliers.  Does that feed your imagination ?

Next up are some more birthday presents.  I bet you think that girl's birthdays go on for ever !  My lovely friend Audrey crocheted this purse for me and made a card to match.

My very creative friend Barbara Jepson put this bag of goodies together using
the colour theme green.

That set me thinking about the Christmas present swap for our craft group and I came up with this idea.

1. Spend no more than £5
2. Using a gift bag of your own choice fill it with goodies matching the colours
    to the bag.
3. Put as many things in as you like.  Add just one present if you want.
4. We will then put everyones name in a hat.  Each person will pick a name
out and be given their bag.

Last year we made Christmas crackers and did the same thing.

A DOODLY BIRD THAT I DON'T LIKE

"I  LIKE THIS...................BUT I DON'T LIKE THIS"
SAID THE ALDI ADVERT ON THE TV

That is just what I said when I created this Doodly Bird for the Whitworth Scarecrow Festival 25th August-2nd September 2012

I liked it at this stage

But then the monster started to emerge
If you want to do the trail you can download a map from this link

Knitters, natterers and a WEDDING GUEST BOOK

Knitting, nattering, nourishing food and friends
what a lovely way to spend a day.
My lovely friend Ruth invited three of us round for the day
Barbara was using this variegated wool to make a scarf.  It is as soft as a cloud.
Susan is tackling a shawl collar without a pattern.  Brave lady.
Ruth is making this little cutie for her grandaughter Martha.
And I am making this little mouse with some wool I bought from my favourite wool stall in Todmorden Inside Market.
I did have a bit of work to do before I was allowed to play though.
Its Laura & Gareth's table plan for their forthcoming wedding.
This is our present to them. I made it for them so that their guests can write some nice comments in it on the big day.
If anyone wants me to make one for a special occasion, like a wedding or christening
send me an email via the shop.    £15.00 including p&p

Polystyrene Balls to you Pauline

I'm not being rude, thats what we were using at this weeks Sunnybank Craft Club.  That and kebab sticks, cardboard plant pots, coloured florist pins, ribbon, tissue and cut out flowers. And here is one I made earlier.

What do you think ?

This weeks factoids, compiled by Susan were a load of balls...
Tennis balls - Yellow ones were first used at Wimbledon in 1986
Golf Balls - have 330 dimples if they are English,  336 in the USA
Football - the inside is a pigs bladder but horses testicles are now being used as they are big but very light.
A formal dance is known as a ball.
Ed Balls is the current shadow chancellor
Ball of the Foot
Ball bearing
Stress Ball
Christmas Balls
Ball is a place in Cornwall and in Shropshire.

NAUGHTY BUT NICE SUSAN WELL DONE
and well done to the crafters for their lovely arrangements
