IT IS THE OFFICE OF A HEAD TEACHER IN A LOCAL SCHOOL WHERE I HAVE BEEN ASKED TO GIVE IT A MAKEOVER

HERE'S A CLUE AS TO HOW IT WILL LOOK
AND GUESS WHO IS PUTTING IN A GUEST APPEARANCE

IN THE FORM OF A MURAL ON ONE WALL AND ACCESSORIES.
THIS IS A NEW VENTURE FOR ME SO I HOPE THE DOODLY BIRDS MAKE A GOOD IMPRESSION WITH THE CHILDREN.

Never boil an Ostrich Egg.....

After receiving these two lovely felt brooches as a gift from Judy in Australia
Link to Judy's blog
I thought how nice it would be to make them at Sunnybank Craft Club.
Mrs Shaw as elegant as ever
We started our session with Susan's wonderful FACTOIDS and here are some of the gems she came up with on BIRDS

1.  If you are in a rush for your breakfast don't choose an Ostrich egg to have with your toasted
soldiers, as they take TWO HOURS to boil.
2.  Flamingoes are pink because they eat carotene rich brine shrimps.
We ladies could use that as an excuse for our hot flushes
3.  The bird with the foulest smelling nest is the Eurasian Hoopone.  Their nests contain vast
amounts of faeces which puts of predators.  Now there's a thought. !
4.  Woodpeckers can peck 20 times per second.  The don't get headaches as their
skulls have air pockets to cushion the brainNo good for headache tablet sales  then !
5.  Charmaine the homing pigeon lost an eye and a leg during the First World War and was
given the Distinguished Service Cross and a wooden leg.

 Pat and Lily
We didnt have time to add birdy legs but the brooches were still a huge success.

NOW
Remember the Canvas Bags I did for the Sue Ryder Charity, well I have sold them all.  So I have now found a UK based family run company who buy them from ethically run/fair trade suppliers and they are availale in THREE different sizes.

Mini Canvas Bag £8  + £2.50 pp (overseas ask for price)
Why I am telling you dear reader is because £1 from each bag is going to my favourite charity
Sunnybank Day Centre, where we have our Craft Club.

You can find the bags in the Doodly Bird Store

What Postman John brought and what I sent...

 I sent these little surprises
and received this ATC from Monika
and these lovely cards from blog friends Connie and Anne.
The two beautifully knitted blankets and hats, made by 92 year Mrs Shaw from my Sunnybank Craft Club are going to twins Harry and Sophie if I can prize them away from Teddy.
Some of the orders I sent out recently
This went to Cheshire along with this
and this went to Scotland.
Someone will be putting a lot of shopping in this in Bristol
So thanks Postman John and all the other posties in their little red vans.
Better not forget Glynn, Carol and Jo in Whitworth Post Office who do such a great job.

Sunday Postcard Art - Sepia

I apologise in advance for doing two blog posts today but the Doodly Birds forced me to do this
Its a Sunday Postcard Art Challenge
You make a postcard based on the theme of the week and this time it is SEPIA
I was sat peacefully looking at  peoples cards when all this squawking and chirping erupted.
"We want to do it, we want to do it"
And they refused to be quiet until I had produced a little sepia friend for them all to play with.
I got out a postcard, some washi tape, white card, my faithful black pen and an old tea bag
and taa-dah a Sepia Doodly Bird.

Here's the link to see other postcards. Click onto their comments box to see the cards

Peace has returned to the Store now.

A t-shirt, a night out, a lampshade, a dog basket and a handsome boy

Here's my Mum wearing her Doodly Bird T-shirt

She is going to wear it to the new leisure centre in Rochdale when she goes to the gym on Monday
Is'nt she great for 80. She also walks between 5-10  miles twice a week.
You have to make an appointment to see her she is that busy.
I had a lovely meal in The Baum next to the Old Co-op Museum in Rochdale.
How do you like this Doodly Bird lampshade
And this is my beautiful little neighbour Ellie who comes to play.
Last but not least this handsome chap is my new great nephew Noah who lives in Dubai.

Just some of the things in the Holland household
hope you like them.
