FIMO BUTTONS by UK TEXTILE ARTIST - BARBARA JEPSON

I have never seen such a wonderful combination of colours as these Fimo Buttons that UK textile artist/designer Barbara Jepson makes.
I asked Barbara what prompted her to start making them.  She said that she found it difficult to buy the buttons in the colours she liked, so decided to make her own.
Fimo is a plastercine consistency and can be moulded, cut and the colours blended together.
It needs to be baked in the oven then finished off with a gloss/acrylic medium.

As well as a functional thing they look good left on the card and mounted in a frame as a piece of artwork.

If added to a garment it should be hand washed.
As well as buttons it can be moulded to make pieces of jewellery.

To buy Barbara's Fimo Buttons go to the Craft Room at

New Craft Room is building up

I am just about to load some more irrestible BAGS OF TREASURE into the NEW CRAFT ROOM in the Doodly Bird Store, so I thought I would give you a sneak preview.

Anyone who likes a challenge and to push their creative side will love these bags & boxes of goodies.
See what you can make from them, then send me a picture.

But if you are anything like me you might not do anything with them, only look at them and mess about with the contents, they are so tactile.  The bags are like a piece of art.  It will be difficult for me to part with them.
Putting them together is great fun, I lose hours playing around with different combinations.

The box alone is so nice in this set, as is  the piece of lacy  calico I got from the Antique Textile Fair last year.    Hmm ! do I really want to part with it.

Pop into the Store for a look
Move over Doodly Birds, crafters coming through.

What's on my workdesk today .........

These little books will be migrating upto Scotland in the next few days and landing on teachers desks at the end of term.

Doodly Birds are going global this week with some hidden surprises
winging their way down to Wales.

 Witney in Oxfordshire.
Thank you everyone who hops around the desks via WOYWW for your support, encouragement and good wishes on the flight of the Doodly Birds into webland.
