Jam Jars & Coasters

 Last time at the Sunnybank Day Centre craft group we covered jam jars with torn tissue paper, napkins and fabric.  Some members used them to put flowers in, others pens and pencils.

 This week we did a favourite craft of making coasters using cut up pictures out of magazines.

 The results are always great.

COASTING ALONG WITH THE LADIES....

I was invited by my friend and local Unitarian church minister to hold a craft workshop at one of their monthly meetings.  So I dragged my partner in crime along, Susan, for moral support.

Using old copies of Country Living Magazine, scissors, card, glue stick, flower & leaf punches and a clear plastic two piece coaster there were some fantastic results.

 

Here they are grouped together.  Everyone enjoyed themselves and we have promised to go back again with another craft project.

WHAT'S ON MY WORKDESK TODAY

On my desk are seven of these getting ready to look after the teachers cups when they go back to school in September.  These are for a school in Shaw, Lancashire.

As you know I am still working on revamping the head teachers office in a school in Castleton, Lancashire so I thought I would give you an update.

The furniture is ordered, the decorater booked, i've started getting the accessories together and I am working on some canvasses now.  Here's a sneak preview of one of them

BARGAINS and TREASURES

I did'nt get to tell you what I got from Todmorden Market yesterday.  First up is this great black & white photo which is in an old frame.  Its been added to my growing gallery.

I love old photographs like this of groups of people you know nothing about and you wonder who they are, what they are doing, where they are.  I think its fascinating.

This one cost me all of £2, the frame and mount are worth that.

This one is of a wedding party, but who are they ? are they working or middle class ?

The little basket will be a good prop for my stall and I love this leather cased clothes brush to fit in a bag or pocket.  The retro material is a pump bag.  Bargains £3.50 the lot.

Don't you think the teapot I got for £2  works well with my mixed lot of crockery and what about these lovely cups and saucers I picked up 4 sets and I they go great with the Doodly Bird coasters.

 Last up is this little jar with the word "perejil", in botany it means "parsley".  
Look at the birds they are far distant cousins of the Doodlies.

Well nothing in truth because I am away on holiday but I have set my blog up to schedule for Wednesday and hope that someone sees me and adds me to WOYWW.

Look at the lovely ATC's that arrived from Mo Allen, Kay Hammock, Ann Bletcher, Ali Wade and Anne Redfern.  Anne also sent me the beautiful paper flower arrangement after I had admired it on her blog.  Its even nicer in real life.

I think its safe now to post a picture of the ATC's I sent out.

Before I left for our caravan in the lovely Cumbrian Lake District I finished this order for Coasters and Mugs and this book for a little girl's Holy Communion.

  My reward for completing the orders was the arrival of these new stamps.  As you know I've only recently be introduced to  stamping, so I treated myself.

I've taken some crafting things away with me so l will show you next week what I got upto.
