This just about summed me up on Monday as we packed our stuff to come
home after six glorious days of fun and games at our caravan in the
Lake District. First visit of the year.
Just before we came away I did a free online workshop with
author and textile worker Molly Martin. 88 participants from
all around the world took part in the zoom meeting,
hosted by ethical clothes company Toast.
Following, London based, Molly’s instructions we worked
on small darning samples.
I didn’t know that it could be such a meditative thing to do.
I’m keeping my pieces between the pages of Mollys book.
Eventually I’m going to repair the ripped knee of a favourite
pair of trousers of Philip’s.
THE ART OF REPAIR
Back on the desk I’m starting this months’ Paint & Ink project
with The No Rules Textile Society that I joined earlier this year.
I’ve been playing with emulsion paint pots and fabric.
Dripping ink onto cotton with pipettes
and generally mark making with things found around the house.
Next up I’ll be adding stitch and overlaying with more paint.
Playing with fabrics to make new fabric.
In other words playing around.
Remember you’re never to old to play
Have a lovely creative week everyone.
