Lockdown Diary - Making Memories

My Facebook memories showed me that five years ago we were in London for my 60th birthday. I took this photo of the throngs of folk crossing Blackfriars bridge.  It won’t be like that now I bet.

And six years ago we tragically lost our beautiful rescue Papillon Kikki.  She was such a sweetheart, loved by everyone on our lane.  Just look at that face.  No wonder she was the Papillon Calendar girl.

Over on my Instagram it’s been nice to see my follower numbers reach 3000.  I know they don’t all see every post but some lovely friendships have been formed over the years both virtually and in real life.  In fact we are meeting up with two friends next week in the Lake District.  Can’t wait to see you Julia & Maria.

Instagram, Facebook & blogging is like having pen pals. Is wonderful for staying in touch with folk, for forming new friendships and meeting like minded people. I appreciate everyone who takes time to stop by and say hello.

hi
Another memory that popped us was from 2012 and a craft fair I did at Browsholme Hall near Clitheroe.  Two blog friends came to see me.  At that time I created a range of things featuring my own designed Doodly Birds.  Craft fairs are damned hard work for little return mostly so I hold my hand up to the creative folk who stick at it and really feel for them during these trying times.   Didn’t we go onto have a great day at the lino printing workshop as well Jo and Carol.

It’s nice looking back on memories.
It’s even better making new ones.
Take care and enjoy your day.

Lynn

  1. I love it when memories come up on Facebook! I agree it's nice to look back on them, but equally important to make new ones. I wonder how we'll look back on what's happening today in a couple of years' time! How gorgeous your Kikki was. No wonder she was a calendar girl! Oh my, 3000 followers. I've made mine private as the majority were creeps. I have to decline requests on a daily basis, and will only accept people if we have "friends" in common. I can imagine these craft fairs were hard work. We are always exhausted if we've participated in a flea markt! xxx

    1. I’m sometimes amazed at where the years have gone when the Facebook memories pop up.
The internet has opened up some lovely friendships Ann, including ours xxx

  2. Paul takes pictures of milo our jack Russell cross all the time. He was laid in his bed the other day and he looked like a human tucked up in bed. As soon as we lost Suzie we replaced her as they are a dog For the disabled. As I can’t bend down properly. So he picks things up for me.
Tokyo is like london now busy not as it should be . Bustling full of tourists . I don’t mind it to be honest plus lots of people are still working from home.
I love arts and crafts, I think you do it more as a hobby and if you make money well jolly good. I used to scrapbook and make cards, I kind of got fed up of it and people were competitive when I lived in the Uk so I stopped. I do miss it though. My mother in law could do embroidery, deco Paige and make cards, she was awesome. She taught dress making at college. And taught me how to sew, but I wasn’t a very good student as I have the attention span of a goldfish!! I still own a sewing machine and one I inherited off her. I really miss her. I cried when she passed away.
I have Instagram I don’t really bother with it . I keep in touch with family on it more than anything.

    1. Milo sounds like a little gem. Mum had a dog that used to put clothes in the washer for her and a friend had Billy the Yorkie who would bring his lead when he wanted a walk, then Karen’s shoes and if she still didn’t move he’d drag her coat over to her.
The internet has been a godsend during lockdown for keeping in touch with folk and blogging is a nice creative outlet as well as a visual diary for me.
      Take care Allie xx

  4. Oh what a lovely blog! Glad I popped by. I don't 'do' Insta so will just keep calling in here. London is sweltering at the moment, my nephew lives there and is a redhead so is really suffering in the heat, it's so oppressive. Thanks for leaving your sweet comment at mine. Have a good week.

    1. Hello and thank you for popping by. It was very hot when we visited in 2015. I’m more of a country bumpkin myself, much preferring trees and fields to towns.noir gate opens out onto the moors and we can walk for miles without seeing a soul. Lots of social distancing.
      Take care x

  5. Kiki was such a beautiful girl, that photo is gorgeous.
I can't believe those 5 years since your 60th have gone so quickly.
3000 followers? that's amazing. I've not visited IG for months, it's all too frantic for me, I prefer the gentle pace of blogging, although I've met some lovely women on there.
I can't believe we haven't done a vintage fair since last year, I used to love that life! xxx

    1. I’m so glad we had Kikki and our other pet family Vix they are all special in their own way aren’t they.
I agree with you about the gentle pace of blogging. I’m enjoying putting my posts together. Do you think it’s the storyteller in us.
Instagram is a great for bringing a smile and keeping in touch with friends and swapping ideas.
I do miss seeing our vintage trader friends at Stockport. Did you see that Gail has moved into 20th century stores. It’s unlikely that Stockport VV will ever start up again now.
Happy blogging my lovely friend xxx

  6. Hiya Lynn..it's me from Canada. Long time no see..but, I've dropped by to say "hi" and to tell you that I've been painting rocks. Yep ... I've totally lost it .... .. hahaha...
But, really it has become quite the thing since Covid lockdown projects too off around here. The girls up the block started a little 'rock garden' and, I did a couple of ladies faces on rocks and popped them ini it..secretly. That was fun.
Then, my husband said...why not do some for our garden? Which I did. But now...I am still doing them... to leave around here and there for a "finders keepers" type of thing.
And, here is my question...finally.... took a novella to get to this bit....
Would you mind if I based some of my little guys on your Doodly Birds? I don't have a lot of my own imagination it seems ...but, I'm pretty good at loosely using the work of others as a guide... and, your little guys are so cute. But, I don't want to claim anything is my own even if it is pretty loosely related to what somebody else does. I'd like to give you credit for being my inspiration if I do post them on the blog.
I do have one of my own on a card you sent to me when you sent me bits and bobs for my Karen stitching class.. but, I've been looking at lots of yours that I find all over the internet.... and, have drawn some simple ones and painted them on a couple of rocks already. I'll be keeping those for me and maybe giving one to a neighbour. If you do go to my blog you can read about what happened to the ones I put in our garden... they aren't there now.
Stay safe and it is so nice to see you still blogging...I haven't been up to much with the blog .. and, am mostly just putting photos on my Flickr site these days.

    1. Hi Vee
Lovely to hear from you. I love what you’re doing with the stones and I’m happy for you to reincarnate the Doodly Birds. They don’t get out much now.
A young boy near us started a row of stones and people started adding to the line. It got so long the local paper did a feature on him.
We have a few local lockdown restrictions here now and are no longer allowed to visit people’s houses or gardens and must wear masks in all enclosed areas. It’s been a long haul and I lost my beloved auntie, who I looked after, on the 31st March. We couldn’t visit her at the home she was only in a week and only six were allowed at the funeral.
Otherwise we are doing okay. Hope you are ok too.
Thanks for popping by. Take care.

  7. Hi again Lynn..I did scroll backwards through several postings...and, noticed your Auntie and the sunflowers.... that was nice. I'm sorry you lost her .. especially at this crazy time and not being able to do all you would have liked at the end..... it is pretty sad for lots of folks in that way right now.
I'll get to posting some of my little "birdies" one day soon.... I'll let you know when I get them ready for their photos...
We are having the same... compulsory masks indoors... I wish folks would take things a bit more seriously. Some outdoors don't think it is a necessary thing to stand at least 6 feet back and it makes me crazy.... there is too much that we don't know and too much that is confusing for many it seems.....

  8. I've been thinking this for a while and I just wanted to let you know, Lynn - I really love how you 'conceptualise' your posts, and I really do appreciate the thought that goes into them. You come up with some lovely 'themes' and they're always so well put together and authentic. Have a beautiful week!

    1. Thank you so much, seriously that is so kind of you.
I always think I just ramble with whatever pops into my head.
There’s a bit of the storyteller in all of us isn’t there.
Take good care and thank you again xx
