“Who’d a thawt it”
I started my new journal on Monday 16th March and what a whirlwind of things have happened since, both personally and in the world in general. It’s probably a piece of history I’m creating here.
I write my ramblings in it most days and as I’ve said before I am more open than I am on my blog as it’s for my eyes only.
The rate I’m getting through the pages I will be ordering another before to long.
I’ve had another nail painting session and today my hair is fully back to its normal self after Angela, friend and hairdresser of over 25 years, put highlights in. I’m so lucky as I only have it coloured about 3 or 4 times a year.
Look at the difference taking a photo outside makes to the colour. The true colour is more like the one taken inside.
As we are not going out to the pub yet or Philip to his country music club we are having a chippy tea and a few beers at the neighbours house tonight. All socially distanced of course.
It’s not been warm enough to be sitting outside this week, we’ve had so much rain. Hopefully we can at least have the door open today and get a bit of fresh air circulating round the house.
I saw this sign somewhere and it made me chuckle.
The new weekly routine seems to be working itself out now. Wednesday is market day and an afternoon doing as I like. Thursday is hair done day and Saturday is a trip over to Todmorden market or Park Farm Shop & Tearoom. That’s as far as it goes but I’m happy with that and that things are falling into place a bit. It’s giving me the focus to find a new normal, slowly slowly. We don’t need any massively exciting things going on or feel the need to go very far. When the time is right we will, until then we are happy with the simple things in life.
As we are also planning on fully retiring by the end of the year it’s a good time to prepare for that as well. There’s a lot to do before that happens but that’s okay too.
Have a good weekend from us two.
and as always stay safe and well
Lynn

Love that sign. Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you too. Thanks for popping by xx
DeleteYour hair color is beautiful! I have to color mine every 6 weeks ~ The Yoga sign made me Smile :) Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI’m so lucky with my hair and there’s lots of it. I just can’t do it myself so my friend Angela wash n blows it every 7-10 days and I don’t touch it in between.
DeleteHave a good weekend too x
your hair looks amazing bet it's making you feel much better. I'm being brave and growing mine out but we'll see. Since we retired we seem to be even busier than before, it's crazy! Have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Angela xXx
ReplyDeleteI don’t know where the days go Angela. The time is whizzing by and we are not even doing anything in particular.
DeleteEnjoy your weekend too xx
I'm sorry I'm so late making my visits this week....and no I haven't been making more face masks today....that's cos I've made 4 Memory bears :-) The world has gone crazy in many ways cos I think I still 11 Memory bears to make yet!!!
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed your post today Lynn...you've made me feel really relaxed and that's really good as we are taking a few days off in the camper van to recharge the batteries :-)
Hugs,
Annie x
I hope you have a lovely time in the camper you certainly deserve the break. Sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery xx
DeleteYour hair looks fantastic, I bet you feel wonderful with the new highlights and your pretty painted nails, you'll be knocking them for six in Tod tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThe new journal cover is lovely.
Enjoy your chips and beer! Chin chin!
I've been in a bikini today, hooray! xxx
The chippy tea and beer were a roaring success and will be repeated again as none of us are ready for the pub yet.
DeleteCan’t believe the difference in weather and heat between us and you. It’s ridiculous.
It’s so nice to see the old me in the mirror again. Being a scraghead doesn’t do for me. I’ll definitely be one of those ladies who has her hair done every week for life haha xxx
Hi Lynn. Your hair looks fabulous, indoors or out! Mine was like that once, but it was many moons ago! The simple life is fine for us too. We are allowed to eat out now but neither of feels like we want to yet.
ReplyDeleteI love your journal cover. I'd never find time to write in one every day, but it is a nice idea. Kate x
I don’t write in it every day Kate and might spend five minutes or thirty minutes depending on what’s on my mind at the time. So it’s not a set ritual I do it as the mood takes me.
DeleteHope you’re ok xx
Your hair looks beautiful. I gave up coloring mine years ago and I have embraced the grey. I call it my silver highlights! We are still not venturing too far... out for groceries every two weeks and to visit our children and grands. My husband's cousin and his wife are very careful so we've had dinner with them... all socially distant, of course. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt’s nice to share a bit of time eating with others isn’t it, even socially distanced. Gives life a bit of normality.
DeleteEnjoy your weekend too xx
Gosh, Lynn. I love your hair. I can't believe how thick and lovely it is. I'm amazed. Mine has been short, short, short for years. I can't stand hair on my neck, so I'm glad you like yours that long. I've had white hair (not completely, but slowly coming in) since I was 19 and my grandmother (grandparents raised me) WANTED gray hair. She had beautiful brown hair. Sometimes we don't get what we wish for.
ReplyDeleteYour journal cover is lovely. I have a calendar in which I write things I've done that day. The squares are about an inch each, so I have to consolidate my thoughts. My blog is where I share everything I don't mind others knowing about. Hope your weekend is wonderful since I seem to be too late for Friday.
I’ve always had a good head of hair Elizabeth. My grandma didn’t speak to me for weeks when as an eleven year old I had it cut to shoulder length. She said I’d had my crowning glory cut off.
DeleteI donated the cut of piece to a children’s cancer charity to make a wig out of it. The piece was over 40 years old when I did that and still as beautiful.
Have a good weekend xx
we like to go to the local bar, but haven’t been since this, we don’t drink, we like to watch the Japanese who cannot hold their drink, it’s like a comedy show as you often find them slunked on trains.
ReplyDeleteAhh chippy tea, how I miss a chippy tea, a treat when I come home, it’s 3rd burger for us. Your hair is lovely mine is dark purple now, missing the blue already ! I love painting my nails it is so relaxing. The sign made me laugh. Take care and keep safe xx
The notebook you're using for your journal looks gorgeous. I'm afraid I've reverted to a list of things I've done, what the weather was like, and any significant changes in the situation in mine, as I seem to have problems with my short-term memory. Love your nail polish and your hair, it must have been such a treat to finally have it done. It's great that you're developing a weekly routine, and that you're having a socially distanced get-together with your neighbours. We're planning to visit friends next week, if things haven't gone pear shaped again by then ... xxx
ReplyDeleteSometimes I just write lists Ann. Gratitude lists or things I’ve done or I’m going to do. I don’t write every day either, only as it takes me.
DeleteThings are still quite strange and we do things we are comfortable with. Starting next week everyone has to wear masks all the time in shops, so I think that will put people off going out again.
Hope you enjoy being with your friends. It’s good to do something familiar. Take care xxx
Your hair is beautiful! It must make you feel good having it done.
ReplyDeleteRetiring by the end of the year? That sounds like a good thing to look forward too. A lot of 'new normals' to get used to, but at least you can work towards it.
Chips and beer sounds good to me. An unhealthy indulgence every now and then is sooo good! My hubby had his beloved ham-eggs and chips this week for the first time since before the lockdown. He was happy as punch.
Have a lovely weekend,
Lisca
