Lockdown diaries. - That feels better

Worzel Gummidge has gone and normal service is resumed. Someone just needs to tell my face that now.

Now I need to apply a bit of tuttie  and I guess I’m good to go.  Except I guess the only people I’ll be dazzling are the fishmonger, butcher and greengrocer.

Still it feels good to have my hair cut and styled properly.

I’ve been totally hooked on  Alan Bennett’s “Talking Heads”on BBC1.  It’s like a good audio book with pictures. The actors are mesmerising.  I think I could easily settle down and watch them again on a rainy day when you don’t want to be outside.  They were as pleasurable as watching the Grayson Perry Art Club series.  You know that warm fuzzy comfortable feeling you get at the end of a programme you’ve enjoyed.

I’ve also been setting the recorder every afternoon for “Home is Where the Art Is” hosted by Nick Knowles. Each day three different artists, who all work in different mediums are given the opportunity to make a specific piece of art for a homeowner after looking around their house and checking out their taste.  They’ve made some fantastic pieces.  You can catch it on BBCi player,  I just keep forgetting I don’t need to record things now.

This isn’t one of the pieces made but when I checked out yesterday’s winner’s website I really loved this piece.

I can just slip in a last minute news update.  My beautiful clever goddaughter Sofia has graduated with. 2/1 in Science Psychology.  Amazing and so pleased for her.  She’s back upto Newcastle next week to start preparing for her Masters.
Onwards and upwards.

Enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
I’m off for a cuppa now.

  1. Huge congrats to Sofia, that sounds a very difficult degree to me. Masters next. Aye, they come clever these days. Your hair looks wonderful. I still have a three week wait, but its ok, its only hair. I keep telling myself. Can’t believe how vain bad hair has made me!!

  2. Well done Sofia. It's so lovely to see our nearest and dearest achieve isn't it? Well done you for getting your hair cut....I'm still in two minds whether to let mine grow out...to save visits to the hair dresser. I'm guessing as soon as the hot days return back I will be wanting it cut [and then wont be able to get an appointment!].
    Have a great week.
    Hugs,
    Annie x

  3. Well done Sofia at least that's something to smile about and your hair looks lovely. It's a funny thing how having your hair tidied up can make you feel so different, I know the feeling. It's nice to see you smiling too. Have a lovely weekend. Hugs, Angela xXx

  4. Your hair looks lovely! That must be a good feeling.
Yes, I've been earmarking 'Talking Heads' to watch later. I have been following the series A House Through Time which was about a house in Bristol (we used to live in Bristol, so I know the area well). It's a bit hit and miss whether I can watch a programme, being abroad, but a few times a week I do get through and watch something.
Congratulations to Sophia. Well done. You must be proud.
    Have a lovely week,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  5. I forgot to say that I hadn't realized the lady on the diving board was a sculpture. It wasn't until I looked at the artist's web site that I twigged. She is a very talented artist.

  6. Your hair looks amazing. I know it makes you happy. My friend Scott cut my back because I can't stand hair on my neck. I'm not sure the hair salons are safe at the moment, so I'll wait. I'm not vain, at least not yet (grin).

SO glad to read about Sophia. Admirable and a really rewarding degree, too.

Here in the states we don't get that show, but I enjoyed stopping by the web site you shared. That sculpture was amazing.

Have a super rest of Friday and a great weekend, too.

  7. Congratulations on the degree Sofia. It has been an odd year for graduates, with no proper ceremony at the end, but good for those who stuck it out to the end.
I have watched some of the talking heads and really enjoyed them, but unfortunately we cannot get iplayer out here.

  8. I'm loving your glamorous new 'do, Lynn. Definitely worth the wait. The fishmonger, butcher and greengrocer will be dazzled indeed! I've been watching some of Alan Bennett’s “Talking Heads” as well, and I absolutely love it. Can't catch anything on BBCi player, I'm afraid. Apparently you have to be a UK resident. Congratulations to your clever goddaughter! xxx

    1. I’m definitely a person that needs her hair doing weekly Ann. This time out has proved it. Angels blow dries it once every 7-10 days and I don’t touch it in between. Then I have highlights about 3-4 times a year to cover the grey.
I’m so proud and happy for Sofia, she has worked hard and through these difficult times as well. She’s looking forward to seeing her friends again when she goes back to do her masters. I don’t know how they fill their heads with all this stuff. They amaze me.
Glad you enjoyed the Alan Bennett series as well.
Have a good weekend both of you xxx

    2. I'm a person that needs her hair doing regularly too, Lynn. Not weekly, perhaps, but with my short hair I can't wait much longer than 4 weeks. I'm absolutely hopeless at doing my own hair and I can never ever get it the way my hairdresser does. Not even close :-) xxx

  9. congrats on the degree. I was as proud as punch when Connor got his. But he has changed pathways now. But he has always been like that. You look Very glam! If I do say myself . Wednesday will soon be upon me. Then it will be the chop for my annoying locks and a nice head massage in the process.
I have never heard make up being called tottie, we call it full slap up! Whilst my hair has been unruly it has been Uv gel only.
Paul managed to get bbc I player but he won’t say how! Very sneaky chappy. Take care and keep safe

    1. Enjoy your hair cut when it comes, it’s so nice to see my old self in the mirror rather than a scarecrow. It was getting worse by the week and I ended up with having 2-3 inches chopped off xx

  10. Hooray for the return of the blow-dried do! You look fabulous - although you did anyway! Like Allie, I've never heard of "tootie" before, it's "slap" round these parts.
Well done to Sofia, what a clever girl.
I haven't seen any of the Talking Heads yet, loved the original series, though. I'm addicted to Mrs America at the moment (and The Lumineries!)xxx

    1. t’s so good to look in the mirror and see me again. My barnet really has got so bad that even washing did nothing to improve it.
I’ve binged watched the last episode of The Luminaries. It was very addictive even though I couldn’t get to grips with it half the time xx
