What’s on your Workdesk

I can put an appearance in this week as I’ve something to show at last.

For my friend John’s birthday I treated him to a glass mosaic workshop and went along with him.

Cutting glass is not the easiest of task to perform so I tried to keep my design simple  by using glass beads and stringers (the long straw like pieces).

Every piece has to be thoroughly cleaned before the adhesive is added and then put under a UV light to set.

John loved it but I was exhausted. I’m not good with instructions, needing to be told everything three times haha.

At least I finished it.  That’s my piece with the balloons or flower, whichever way you see it.

  7. What a fab workshop! I’m not surprised by your analysis....I’ve noticed at card making workshops, the gals that are really skilled at other stuff like you are, seem to get a nerve on and have to double check everything because their confidence is a bit low with something new. That’s all...now you’ve done it, am sure you’ll be more relaxed and less exhausted next time!! Great pieces aren’t they. Lovely Mr Dunnit did a traditional stained glass leading workshop a few years ago and it really fired his imagination, somewhere deep in the garage is a project he started before being self employed took over his life....its on our list of things to complete when he starts to cut back..(ha ha). A pair of panels for our front door. Will be gorgeous at some point!!

What a lovely workshop although I'm sure I would have ended up with cut fingers. I love both of the finished pieces.

  12. What a brilliant gift. The pieces you made are beautiful. I bet it's a tricky craft. Glass always looks so fragile but I love watching it being created.
