from which I produced these
Buttons and bows
I've also done a bit of rag rugging and made this cushion.
Well did you guess what this thingymebob is ?
It's an old clock repairers stand.
The clock would be trapped between the top bit which slides up and down and the pendulum hangs down through the fork piece at the bottom.
Have a great desk hopping day over at Mrs D's blog
The little bow ties are so cute and I love your cushion! Great work. Happy WOYWW, Evelyn # 17
ReplyDeleteGorgeous work Lynn, the buttons and bows are so delightful, and I love the cushion - I haven't rag-rugged before but I love the effect!
ReplyDeleteThat cushion is beautiful, Lynn. From the clue on your previous post, I thought it must have something to do with clocks. I'll show that one to Jos too, as he has a thing for clocks. xxx
ReplyDeleteLoe your cushion - what did you use for the heart? Figured it had to be fine enough to pull through but not a clue what -looks fab. Those bows are cute and straight away ('cos of the crazy birds I guess) I thought of bow ties. Hmm... ignore me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for putting me out of my misery with the clockmaker tool - would never ever have guessed.
Have a good week
Hugs, Neet 2 xx
I drew a heart shape on the back of the hessian then used strips of cotton fabrics pulled through to give it the shape Neet. Hope that's what you meant X
DeleteSo that what the object was! You can't beat a bit of rag rugging to make something great from scraps - lovely cushion x Jackie 21
ReplyDeleteI love how you alter items and turn it into beautiful objects! Happy woyww and a hug from Holland, Marit #26
ReplyDeleteWell I would never have guessed that if I'd guessed from now til Christmas lol. I bet it could tell some tales if only it could talk. :-) And what's this that you are going to see Tina in Montgomery? Do give her my love please...it's been far too long since I saw her.....and have a fab time.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Annie x # 8
Thank you Annie, I will. Jessie Chorley from London is holding an altered books workshop at Tina's. As they are both on my drool list I couldn't miss this one xx

Beautiful craft works missus! The buttons and bows are so pretty, your cushion is AMAazing and I'm happy to know at last what the 'hooziwatchamacallit' is :D xxxx
ReplyDeleteThe thingymebob is now being rechristened a hooziwatchamacallit Mo haha xx
DeleteYou didn't waste time after getting your goodies in the post, did you? Good job you added the ruler, otherwise I would have thought they were much larger! Great repurposing of the clock holder! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #32
ReplyDeleteWhat great bows! I would never have thought of a lock repair!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Diane - WOYWW #29
That cushion is my fav. I think your home would be very calm and peaceful, with lots of lovely tactile things you have made.
ReplyDeleteI love your bows. Are they difficult to make? I need something to put on cards and I am terrible about tying them - they always look such a mess.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW
Sharon K #36
No they are not difficult Sharon. Fold an oblong piece of fabric in half, fold in the edges, blanket stitch round then bind the middle together and add a button. If you are unsure you can get a little kit with instructions from Jessie Chorley online shop. It will get you started :-)
DeleteThose little bows and buttons are just too cute!
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW!
Tertia #44
I like the sound of Postman Dave if that's what he brings..could you send him round to mine? I love what you've made. Elaine no. 51

MiSchra ♥ #42
A clock repairer's thingy! I'd never have guessed.
ReplyDeleteLoving those tiny bows. I've got a real thing about blanket stitch at the moment, I've edged a few boring tunics from chazzas with a contrasting thread to make them look more hippy-like! xxx
I'm going to pimp up a jacket that's a bit boring by adding covered buttons, bows and trims xx
DeleteI love your cushion. The rag-rug heart is such a lovley effect. I am so glad you have at last put us out of our 'misery' and let us know what the 'mystery object' is. I would never have guessed.
ReplyDeleteyour bows are fabulous.. no, never guessed about your mystery object! Helen #1

It's always so nice to get "happy mail" and then have time to play with things right away. Your cushion looks so inviting with the dimensional heart in the center. Hope you're having a happy WOYWW and thanks for visiting! ~ Laura #37
ReplyDeleteLove the cushion, my friend gave me a prrogger and some hessian but as yet I haven't made anything
ReplyDeleteI was way of your clock repair stand. That cushion is just divine. Happy WOYWW, Vicky #9
ReplyDeleteI would never of worked out that was a clock repair stand ... sure I wasn't alone. Love those cute little button/bows and your cushion is gorgeous. Always lovely to stop by and see the gorgeous projects.
ReplyDeletesandra de @35
I would have never guessed what the wooden object was. The cushion is inspired, and the buttons are fab. I've made bows a la Jessie. Is that her book in the top photo? I'm looking forward to hearing all about your workshop. xxx
ReplyDeleteYou work with the coolest materials! those bows/ buttons are adorable. Love the clock repair stand. Had never seen one. Creative Blessings! Kelly #43
ReplyDeleteYour cushion is beautiful and your bows so creative!! I love vintage finds, your clock stand is awesome!
ReplyDeleteHappy creative week to you!
Kim #65
Gorgeous projects, Lynn, and all so unusual! Never seen anything like them before! Who'd have thought of altering an old clock stand, or putting rag rugging on a cushion? I love how you've buttonhole stitched around the bows too. It's all so imaginative and intriguing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your fun comment - Gary's off to Spain any moment and won't be available I'm afraid lol! Also, much as I tried to persuade him, I couldn't get a bite of cake to pass his lips haha! I'd done all this home baking, too, for our tea party and he didn't want any of it - he says he prefers savoury stuff! All well, all the more for us! I'll soon be straight again - I keep running out of steam and it's taking longer than I'd hoped to get everything back into the room, but once it is, I'll blog about it. Not long now, I hope.
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi #52
Well I must say that the mystery item was a hard ask. I wouldn't have guessed in a million years and here's me looking out for one to use in jam making!!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.
