Nearly Forgot ....

I nearly forgot to show you the tag I made last week for Carolyn Saxby's Tag Tuesday Challenge.  The theme was "GREEN".
As we were on holiday in my CYBER GREEN VW Beetle in our GREEN caravan, set in the GREEN woodland in front of Cartmel Fell in the lovely GREEN Lake District, I was definitely in the right surroundings.
So this GREEN Doodly Bird emerged sat on a GREEN perch in a GREEN cage surrounded by GREEN foliage which i made from my stash of GREEN papers and my leaf stamp.
The sharp eyed eagles amongst you will notice the make of our 15 year old caravan is
BLUEBIRD, seems like I cant get away from birds for a minute.

If you want to see what other people did here's the link

WE ARE BACK ..............

That has been the quickest week of all time.
Saturday arrived at caravan.
Sunday went to Holker Hall Garden Festival
Monday met up with some friends for lunch in Ulverston
Tuesday went to Arnside & Silverdale
Wednesday went to Kendal and Grange-Over-Sands
Thursday sat outside the caravan all day
Friday went to Cartmel
Saturday came home.
If that was my holiday i've had it !

But look at the fantastic people we met and the work they do.

I couldnt resist this lovely ceramics stall owned by Jennifer & Adrian Bell.  It looked so pretty and I'm pleased to say you can buy things through their website.

This was the W.I. tent at Holker.  I got myself a W.I. Biscuit making book.

Cool Crafting , based in Milnthorpe Cumbria, drew us in with their lovely vintage fabrics, ribbons, and a great idea of a craft kit in a jam jar - Sew a felt bird.  This clever mother & daughter team run workshops, organise crafting parties and hen parties with a difference.  I had a lovely chat with Grace (the daughter) who was really bubbly and enthusiastic about all they do.
Have a look at their fantastic website.

We treated ourselves this year to Cream Tea in the hospitality tent.  It was lovely to sit down for a while and enjoy some lovely cake and a nice cup of tea.

I will tell you some more tales tomorrow.
Hope you are all still out there.

ps.. Hello to our new followers as well, its lovely to have you along.

The Doodly Bird store and blog are on holiday for a week now.
HOWEVER
I have scheduled by blog to post a few things during the week in the hope that you will not desert us.
This is where we will be
hoping we won't be needing these
We will be out and about in Grange Over Sands where this lovely garden can be admired.
Fingers crossed we can get the BBQ going after we have been to the local farm shop.
If not it will be round to the Crown Inn at High Newton for tea.
Sunday we will be attending Holker Hall Garden Festival now in its 20th year and I think ive only missed about three.
There's a trip to Ulverston planned for lunch with friends and then it will be wherever the road takes us.

Hope you enjoy all the links
You can still order from the
and I will be posting out orders on Monday 18th June
See you soon

WONDER OF WOOL & SINGING TREES

www.jointheflock.co.uk

We had our first visit to the Rheged Centre at Penrith.
Its a fantastic place just off Junction 40 of the M6.
Built into the hillside it has a grass covered roof, waterfalls you can see from its three restaurants,  an exhibition space, outdoor play area, 3D cinema, lovely shops filled with local produce and crafts. Free parking as well (that makes a change).
Photographs of the Wonder of Wool Exhibition
The Wonder of Wool Exhibition was stunning, as well as these exhibits there was a flock of knitted full size park benches and other extraordinary knitted assemblages
There was a craft event on the day we went with everything made in Cumbria.
GREAT DAY OUT AND WE WILL DEFINITELY BE GOING AGAIN.

We also had a great time at
GRIZEDALE FOREST
and I will admit that I turned every key on every  musical tree to listen to the different tunes.  Its a fascinating place and the best bit is its all free. Kids and grown ups have a great time and you can even get round with pushchairs. Sorry for lack of pictures I forgot my camera that day.
