Sorry not a desk in sight, I’m to busy arranging the stunning flowers
I received from Gemma and her team at Barnados Vintage shop in Cheadle.
On Sunday we dropped off a car full of our vintage clobber for
them to sell.
They wasted no time in getting them steamed and on the
shop floor.
Some have been donated because they no longer fit and some
because my style has changed. I’ve still the shoes, bags, knitwear
and coats to go through.
The dapper chap is also working his way
through his stash of clobber.
In the meantime I’m off to practice walking up and down
stairs, without tripping up, in the preloved boho festival skirt
that I picked up at The Vintage Emporium on Sunday.
If I keep ending up in a tangle it’ll be making its way to you Vix.
We love the fact that our collection of vintage clothes find
new homes and don’t end up in landfill.
We bought them ourselves from vintage fairs, trader friends and
charity shops and here they are going round again.
I’ll be back at my desk properly next week, promise.
It's great that you have found an emporium to take your vintage items and sell them. That makes it all worthwhile, since you seem to adore vintage so much. I love that skirt. It is beautiful, but it would have to be hemmed if I wore it. Or maybe the bottom layer would have to come off, since I'm only 4'11" tall. Happy WOYWW from # 12. BTW, love the flowers.

DeleteOh that boho skirt takes me back - When we lived in the Barbican the most fun every year was the Summer in the City, for the kids, and the World Market for the grown ups. I swear I bought my son a pair of trousers with many of those same fabrics in them. It looks gorgeous. Maybe you need one of those loops like brides have for their train, so you can sweep it up and slightly out of the way when going up or down stairs? Good luck and I hope you don't have to give it away!

What a lovely skirt - I had a patchwork maxi skirt back in the day, you've brought back lots of memories. It's lovely that your vintage clothes are going to such a good cause and will be loved again and what a gorgeous bunch of flowers. Brilliant, am delighted that the gals at Barnardo’s were so thoughtful in acknowledging your contributions, I doubt they often get such well cared for stuff! Love the skirt, understand the dilemma though…you might have to do what the house matron at school used to tell us to do whilst we were tripping rather than floating about…I can hear her saying it….roll it over at the waist! A technique we had to employ on Sundays in uniform to prevent our skirts being longer than our cloaks. Not very sartorial!

I have had a capsule wardrobe for about 3 years now, which is brilliant, and nothing is vintage (I put on weight and a lot of my clothes went to charity shops). I have in the past found some outfits in local antique shops. Ali x #15

ReplyDeleteWhat an absolute feast of fabrics and flowers this week, Lynn. I love vintage clothes, and I love Vintage Vix's blog too!! Your boho skirt is fabulous - right up my street! I love the idea of keeping clothes out of landfill, too. Some of my stuff is over 30 years old and I still wear it - I hate throwing out old favourites. With a lot of the ethnic clothing I wear, it doesn't matter what size you are, either - I continued to wear most of mine throughout a 5 stone weight change.
