Lockdown Hair - woyww

I’m late for Workdesk Wednesday.  It’s because I wasn’t going to play this week, then had a change of mind on the last minute.

Tuesday - I’ve been a bit unsettled recently like many people.  Maybe it was the Super Saturday thing, I don’t know.  It just seems every time there’s a change it throws me off kilter again.

So after sorting the washing, writing some letters and cards and getting some packages ready for postage I trundled off to the post box in the rain.

While Philip carried on painting the inside walls of the garage I put my cd on and did my regular Pilates practice.  After that I picked up my sewing again.

I’m on countdown now for getting my mop sorted out now.  Thursday afternoon is our appointed slot.  Philip doesn’t look any better than me.

It’s going to show an awful lot of grey when it’s blow dried into its usual style.  First up though it’s  having a good cut then next time I’ll have a colour.

Had lunch with a friend today (Wednesday) at the Tearoom I went to with Mum on Saturday.  I feel comfortable there and we had a good catch up and a chuckle.

Back home and just time for a quick walk before the rain starts again.  Old wellies and a Palavafolk frock bought in the sale.

The neighbours are still laughing at my faux plants in the garden but we think they look pretty damn good and the plates bought from vintage trader friend Gail Eagle of Essentially Eagle have been on the wall winter and summer for a few years now.

Must just show you this pic auntie Jill took of Mum while they were waiting for the bus home.

Not only have they just started out again on the bus but they are going to town where a new shopping centre has opened since they last went three months ago.  I’m so proud of her and how she is dealing with everything.

  1. Hi Lynn, you are usually way ahead of me. My niece came and cut my hair, no colour left with me either. My sister says it looks fine and it is more ash than grey, but I think I am going to add some colour. Your hair is very long, will you have it much shorter? If I could bypass the growing stage I should like long hair x Angela #25

    1. Hi Angela
I’ll probably have a couple of inches off. My friend who has been cutting it for over 25 years will decide what to do with it. I let her have full control. As you can see I’m useless at looking after it xx

  2. I can totally understand you being unsettled. I've just had an "episode" as well. I'm usually quite nervous when there's another relaxation of the rules, as I often think they're coming too soon. At least, we had the re-opening of pubs and restaurants Etc. on a Monday, not a Saturday, which I think must have been total madness! I love your frock and your faux plants and plates display. Never mind those neighbours :-) It's wonderful that you were able to have a catch up over lunch with your friend, and I'm sure you're counting down the hours to your hairdresser's appointment! xxx

    1. The anxiety thing seems to be hitting a lot of people this week Ann. Which is quite comforting as at least we know we are not alone in this.
I’m am looking forward to having nice hair again. Fingers crossed the grey doesn’t look to bad and will be ok until I get it done proper xxx

  3. Hi Lynn, love the display of plates, they are gorgeous. I'm sure you'll feel much better when you get your hair appointment. I'm not taking any notice of relaxing rules, just staying in as normal, too many idiots out there behaving as if theres not a problem. Stay safe, have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #5 X

  4. Oooh love the hair - the style is called "Lockdown Chic." I'm a great advocate of this, never going to the hairdressers these days! I trim the ends myself (don't always get it really even but who cares if one plait is longer than the other lol!!) and it grows so fast. I'm not worried about my grey now - I'm just letting it all hang out. I am not at all anxious about catching the virus either and think "what will be, will be" and have actually really enjoyed the lockdown. Not that it has made any difference to my life really (apart from finding it difficult to get Tesco delivery slots) but it's been positive, having my hubby around all the time, and he's been so relaxed and not stressed out as he usually is, rushing about and doing too much! I just hope that when I have my bladder scan, they won't make me wear a mask because I hate anything over my face.

I love your "winter wall" with the plates. What a cool idea! It looks great.

Thank you for your visit and I'm glad you enjoyed seeing me as a vision in purple lol! Thank you for all your good wishes.

    Happy WOYWW,

  7. I go for mine next Wednesday, I don’t know why, but I have been holding off , even though ours never closed we haven’t been going out as much, it’s past my ears now.
Which is far too long for me. So a good chop is called for. I had a good chat with my mum on Saturday who lives near a pub, but thank the Lord they decided to keep it closed. She was like you still on edge. But she calmed down once I had a good chat with her.
And the kids made her giggle. I think she just wants to give them a good cuddle. I tell her , it will soon come around. If people do as they are told we will beat this. She just sighed.

  8. Thanks for sharing your fun photos. I did not post this week. I guess your term UNSETTLED applies perfectly for me. Same schedule. My son and DIL have July birthdays and my package is ready but where do I take it. Postal is high prices our UPS is great but have to find a shop that weighs and ships. I'd love a walk in the rain !! SO DRY, HOT and HUMID here for weeks, Our farm crops will be hurting soon. Forecast is for storms tomorrow. hail, winds and tornadoes just what will all hurt our fileds of corn and beans SO fingers crossed they are wrong. Watering garden and flowers, and keeping birds happy with filling the bird baths. Stay Safe

  9. I can totally relate to the feeling of being unsettled, I'm just getting over a couple of bad weeks, which I'm sure weren't helped by the Saturday madness thing! How lovely to meet up with friends - we are both still being very cautious because of health problems so no outings for us yet. I love the plates on your wall, they are so colourful and the fern looks great against them. I've cut my own hair so short through lock down I dare not get my hairdresser in as she'll have to almost scalp me to get it all even again!
Hope you have a good week,

  10. Your Mum is doing really well with all the changes required. My sweet Mother In Law now comes with me ‘for the ride’ when I have to go anywhere, and I try to take long and circuitous routes home for a change of scenery. Last week we went via a Costa Drive Through and we had iced coffees. Her first - she was all giggles and new experiences, it was lovely. However, she’s not great at remembering the rules when there are shops to go into, we went into our near town to go to the bank earlier this week and it was a bit like having a deaf child....she forgot to follow arrows and stood in the wrong places, leaned around screens etc. Firstly because she’s not been anywhere to get used to these systems and also because she’s deaf and like me, really struggles with the masks and screens in terms of them being sound barriers. People are generous about her mistakes but its not helpful, so as far as poss, we’ll stick to the driving and waiting in the car while i run the errands. As for haircut...no sign of an appointment for me yet. I dont mind the length but it really needs a cut to give it some condition. Then like you, I can have it coloured. One thing at a time! Trouble is, if I ring my lovely Logan hairdresser, she’ll ask if Mr Dunnit is working and I can’t lie to her, he hasn’t stopped. And she wants him to make her some fitted wardrobes and I cant see it being much before October before he’s got schedule space and oh...the disappointment, I hate it! Ah well, I expect my vanity will win out and the call will be made...! I like the plate display and would never have guessed that the fern wasnt real to be honest. Am super pleased that the plates haven't cracked and broken away from frost, thats great isn’t it. My big sister what lives in Idaho has a big old frame thing (like the old fashioned letter racks with pockets) filled with succulents that I always admire in photos, it really adds to her patio area. Had to go out there on holiday and look at it closely to discover they’re all fakes. Easier to look after! And a bit like me, she wanted instant results so wasn't prepared to plant and risk losses and shabby results!! Lovely to have a spot of lunch with a chum, I shall be following your example fairly soon.

  11. Good job I've popped back. For once I was early doing the visits yesterday and then got caught up with other stuff but I'm here now. I love your plants and plates and if it makes people smile that's got to be good. I've had my hair cut but not coloured, going to try and grow it out and quite looking forward to it really. It was interesting in the salon but they were very careful. Wishing you a very happy, belated woyww, Angela x15x

  12. Hi Lynn. Must get around to answering your email - sorry!!! Life... you know. Anyway - I like the plate display - it looks good and brightens things on such a dull day. I think it has actually stopped raining here, but the sun hasn't yet made an appearance, so folks are going out in coats and hats just in case. Your mum looks great - heading off into town isn't something I am doing yet on the bus - I'm afraid I take my car. Glad you managed a time with a friend - it is good to be going a little further and meeting a few folks. Great picture of you hanging on to your hair - hope you enjoy your time with the hairdresser today!!
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

  13. I can see where you get your sense of style from, your fabulous mum! Look how colourful she looks. I'm so proud of her getting on the bus and having an adventure, I bet she feels so much better for it.
Your hair is lovely, you're so lucky to have curls! Your Palavafolk dress is perfect with the wellies, if only there were some festivals year, you'd be festival ready!
It does feel very daunting when the government announce the changes to lockdown life, like you I kept thinking it was too soon but having experience "normal life" at the hairdressers I'm quite excited for the future! xxx
