From oils to ceramics. Prints and sculptures

On Saturday I visited the local art gallery

Susan Wilson- Self portrait with Clematis Wreath c. 1996

I was blown away with the current exhibition.
A display of over 200 works,  which is roughly 13% of their entire collection.  It is the most comprehensive public presentation of their permanent art collection ever staged.

It is displayed in order of how the collection evolved

Ceramic artwork

This one has enormous appeal to me.  I’ve always been drawn to flaking painted wood, rust and paper

This one made me laugh.
I couldn’t see anything about the artist or the subject so when I go back on my second visit I’ll ask about it.

  1. What a wonderful exhibition. I can see one of our pictures, Sir Gerald Kelly's Princess Saw Ohn Nyun on the wall. Exciting stuff!
I love the ceramic art and that picture at the bottom is absolutely wonderful, I can't take my eyes off it. The chap in the boiler suit is pretty special, too.
Isn't it amazing that both Rochdale and Walsall have such an incredible collection of fine art? Thank goodness we do, there's not a lot of other things our town can take pride in! xxx
PS You look like a work of art in your lovely outfit! xxx

  2. That looks like a fabulous exhibition! Aren't you lucky to have such an interesting art gallery nearby? My favourites are the first painting and the ceramic art! xxx
