This hour of mine on my desk

Do you remember this lovely project box arriving last week

It was filled with treasures and ideas to give yourself permission
to spend time being creative and has the appropriate name
"This Hour Of Mine"

After fiffing and faffing with the beautiful contents for ages,
all of which had a delightful floral scent of hawthorn and briar which I got
a bit hooked on, I set to thinking what I could create.

The fabric pieces had bondaweb on the back to make cutting
out the flower shapes easier, so I set off doing that

Next I did a line of running stitch up the length of a piece of ribbon and
pulled it into the shape of a flower and adding the cut out shapes
and bits of lace

I ironed pieces of the bondaweb backed fabrics to this
little clipboard and built up a collage of ribbons and laces on top

I ironed some of the cut out flowers to a bottle vase, stuck it onto the board
and added the little embroidery that a friend sent me

And here it is up on the wall in my workspace

Hope you like it.

I'm joining in with Julia's weekly creative desk hopping blog
over here if you want to have a look

  1. Happy WOYWW. All I can say is 'Wow'! That clipboard is truly gorgeous. You are so clever. I used to subscribe to a monthly sewing stash box, and never even attempted to make anything. I struggle so much with imagination now - my brain is dulled by chronic pain. Ali x #10

  2. How pretty is that.....I can just see the hours of pleasure you've had creating it too. Is it something you will be receiving regularly? It's such a lovely idea.

  3. Morning Lynn. Never, in a million years, would I have thought of ironing fabric onto a clip board. Well done you on a successful completion of your "This hour of mine"!
    Take care. God bless.

  4. Blimey, you're a quick worker! What a marvellous piece of work. It's lovely and right at home in your gorgeous work room.
Nothing on my desk today, it's all cleared as I'm off gallivanting with a friend in a bit! xxx

  5. How clever is that! I get the feeling that your desk is a lot tidier and interesting than mine!

  6. Margaret stole my line! How in earth did you think of a clipboard? But it's genius - a sturdy background and a ready made hanger. It all looks fab, I love everything about it! I've said it before, you have amazing ideas, I really love what you make :-D

PS Are you going to come to the Crop on 30th Sept in Llandudno? It would be awesome to meet you in real life x

  7. That is an amazing result and so easy to follow what you did from the description. Also a lovely way to incorporate your friend's embroidery. Sarah #26

  13. Gorgeous, absolutely the seated pose - over here they would call that - 'vous cherchez pour une belle mere' ( you are looking for a mum in law - = man trap - showing your under garment...)... made me smile, love the way you present yourself and your work... Dx @43

  14. I seriously love what you did with that clipboard, Lynn. It's gorgeous! xxx

  15. Loving your fabric and lace flowers. A fun post. Enjoy a great week

  16. Absolutely gorgeous, thank you so much for this blog post and documenting the journey, as that is the point, the journey and the individual creative direction is just as important. xxx I am just about to start preparing the next. xxxx Have a lovely day xxxx

  17. What a gorgeous gift box, and I love what you have done with it! It is so pretty. Thank you for your visit and your lovely comment - very complimentary to compare my work with the gorgeous stuff Kim Tillyer is producing - I wish I could see the resemblance lol!! Your kitchen sounds perfectly lovely. Ours is going to be perfectly awful for a while - the damp expert came this a.m. and the news isn't too good I'm afraid.

    Happy belated WOYWW,
    Shoshi #44

  18. What a lovely box of pretty things, Lynn. The flowers you made are simply delightful, as is the finished project. I would never have thought of ironing on to a bottle though but I see it worked perfectly so something to tuck to the back of mind should I ever want to attach flowers to a bottle. Have a lovely week. Elizabeth x #30

  19. Wow! This is so gorgeous! Very nice.

Got to say I love love love your lace underskirt. Fantastic!
Hugs, and thanks for visiting me, sorry I am so late xx 8
