What's on my workdesk today ........

I'm quite excited as I'm  playing at being a librarian
with my new toy that I had to have on seeing it.
I get told off for lending out my books and then sulking
when I can't remember who I lent them to.
A friend made me a "lending out book" some years ago,
so with the little library kit I should never lose a book ever again.

Also on the desk are pieces of tweed/wool
that I am making into a winter scarf.

I got the bundle recently at Beyond Measure
in Todmorden on one of my many visits over there.

Lets hope I manage to finish this project and it doesn't end up on the shelf
with my unfinished patchwork curtains amongst other things.

If you need some inspiration nip and have a
look at all the crafty desks over at Julia's place

Don't know about unfinished projects, I'm all about the unstarted ones at the moment. Desperate to get sewing but clueless as to what! xxx

  2. I think we all have those UFOs - unfinished objects. Sure your scarf will not become one.... Oh I remember those date stamps and I think I want one now. Have a great week x Jackie 16

  6. Great idea to keep track of your books! I must admit, I hate lending my stuff as much as I hate borrowing from others. Selfish? Perhaps, but I had too many things gone missing over the years and I'm too polite to ask them to be returned even if I remember who has it. At the same time, I can't enjoy stuff that was lent to me, in fear of ruining it or losing it or forgetting to give it back. You know where you are with your own stuff! Good luck with your UFOs! zsuzsa #31

  7. I used to love playing librarian when I was little, I made cards to go in each book etc.My son doesn't get that because everything is electronic nowadays :-) It's actually bad that people don't return the books themselves, that you need to keep a track. thx for your visit earlier, glad you like the color, was exactly what i was going for splashes of bold color, Vicky

  8. Hope you get the scarf finished and you show us a picture of the finished idea.

Good idea on the book loaning. I only loan to a few good friends and mostly seem to get them back.

  10. Bet that scarf will be lovely and warm, and look very stylish too.
The book lending idea is one I should have employed a long time ago, I now look for books I don't have and am sure I loaned them out - still I am as bad as I remember having a dish belonging to my cousin. She went berserk when she saw it as she had looked for it for ages - I had not a clue it belonged to her.

  13. I love the library card idea - I do the same as you, forget who I've lent books to but that's just brilliant! Love the tweed too - grey and yellow is one of my favourite colour combinations, your stitching is gorgeous.

  15. Happy Belated WOYWW. I used to play libraries when I was a lot younger - my parents had books in every room, so it was a fun game for me. I have always found libraries to be a place of comfort for me. I hated school and would love to escape down to the town library as soon as the last bell was rung - where we waited for my mum to finish her office job and come to collect us. The library was warm, quiet and no bullying. When I went to uni, the girls in the house next door were on the librarian course - and I was so jealous. I didn't even know there was a degree course in librarianship, and looking back I should have transferred onto it. How my life could have been different! Ali x #11

  16. Made me panic until I read it again...thought you were sending people to me for inspiration! love the addition of the yellow thread to the tweed, you do have an innate sense for colour and texture don't you. Love the idea of the lending library system, much needed if you're a serial lender (see what I did there?) now all you have to do is actually pluck up the courage to ask for the book back!!

  17. I can just imagine you stamping books with abandon and looking over your glasses at Philip when he pinches the last of your chocolates! Ooh posh scarf you're making there. I'm intrigued. Been to Tod again? Glad the aliens didn't abduct you! Xxx
