What's on my workdesk today.........

It's all about foraging for fabric this week

I paid a visit to the local Salvation Army Shop and picked up two cushions, a crotchet top and a curtain, for the grand total of £5.50

As soon as I got home I turned the curtain into a cover for the garden sofa seat pad with enough left to make a blind for the bathroom window.  Then I fettled with some fabric pieces and made double sided seat pads for the chairs.

Donning my flowery charity shop frock I draped myself across the sofa looking like an English rose type of lady and waited for the weary welder to arrive home.  Then it lashed it down, so I had to abandon that plan.  Serves me right I should have been pulling them horrible weeds out that I've just noticed.

Back inside I've cut up more fabrics pieces to add to the patchwork curtains I'm making for the bedroom.

You do all know that I am not an accomplished seamstress so anything you see is comically known as The Rough & Ready Range.  Don't check out my stitchwork if you call in for a cuppa.

I've done a bit more slow stitching on this wall hanging then had to give in as the golfers elbow flared up.  Its amazing how you can get tennis/golfers elbow without even swinging a bat or a stick.

Finally I hope you all have a great creative week and that I can get to sit outside on my fancy furniture.

Your garden space looks wonderfully colourful and cosy, could the rain stop for just a day or so and let us enjoy it? xxx

  3. I love all the things you have made and are working on! My sewing skills are laughable to say the least! At least I know how to sew a button on and men a hem, but thats about it.

  5. It's not rough and ready it's artfully worked to show it's handmade and not from China. The charity shops in Solihull are dire unfortunately unless you want second hand M&S or John Lewis - I envy your finds. It will be fine today so get your frock on. Have a happy week x Jackie 14

  6. Ha, that made me laugh - the thought of you lying there languidly waiting to be discovered by your swain, only to be thwarted by the rain :-D. I love what you've done with the charity fabrics, you have such an amazing eye for pulling colours and patterns together. Who cares about neat stitching...mine most definitely isn't!

  13. Your furniture looks beautiful. So does your stitching! I cross stitch quite a bit but am thinking about doing some free stitching and incorporate with quilting too. Maybe. I need more hours in the day though!

    Have a great week

  25. I really like the 'rough and ready' range. I think it is quite similar to the shabby chic that is being sold for a lot of money around here. Love the covers for your furniture on the patio. I need to go find some fabric and make some padded covers for my new chaise lounges on my deck. It has been a while since I have posted anything or participated in WOYWW! It has been a year of medical issues and I have become kind a recluse of sorts. Vickie #43

  26. Hi Lynn! Love your cushions, I am not sure if I wish I lived closer or thankful I don't. I know hanging out with you would be wonderfully inspiring & terribly distracting! Everyone loved my post featuring you! I had time to post, but not make the rounds til now. donna #34

  27. I don't wish to be found guilty of insubordination, however I have to say, your stitching looks beautiful on that wall hanging. And if it's a bit rough and ready where it doesn't count, we'll never mind. This weather spoils everything; I'd love you to have been found all romantically displayed for the welder, all DH Lawrence!! Xxx
