Not my desk......
I went on a craft taster session yesterday afternoon
run by local textile artist Beverley Elliot of Scrumptious Textiles.
If you are on facebook you can find her on there.
I was interested in learning how to make a Dorset button.
I've made a start here using a curtain ring.
I also wanted to have a go at making tyvek beads
Postman Dave brought me this book so I will be having a look
to see what I can do with my old tins. I am going on a workshop at Hope & Elvis, Worksop, run by Viv Sliwka of Hens Teeth soon who
creates fantastic embroidery/paper collages in old tins.
I'm also running up some patchwork curtains from vintage/retro fabric,
linens and hankies as well.
Will show you more as I go along.
Have a great deskhopping day
You have the right idea going to all these workshops - even if you don't take up that particular craft afterwards, it must give you a huge amount of inspiration. I must go to some, I know I'd enjoy them, I'm just very bad at making time for myself!
ReplyDeleteLOVE those patchwork curtains :-)
Hugs, LLJ xxxx
Dorset buttons take me back to City and Guilds days - so now we wait to see what you do with them and your beads. What lovely old tins you have found - makes me want to go to a boot sale and mooch around but I have never found much - probably I get there too late and good stuff has gone. Have fun x Jackie 14
ReplyDeleteCor Lynne, I love those buttons! I can see I will be looking them up on Google shortly.
ReplyDeleteLove the curtains you are making - so interesting too and what a reminder they will be of various events in your life.
Good luck with the tins and the class.

ReplyDeleteHow fun! I so envy artists who have more abilities in more than 1 type of art. I am always looking for an artist to feature on my website (those other than card makers) if you would like to be featured there - please let me know! blessings, donna #9

I'm now wondering what you'll do with them! I love the curtains - that's a great way of reducing stash too - I would love to halve my trunk of fabric.
