There is nothing on my desk this week as we have been visiting the Lake District, starting out at Holker Hall Garden Festival in Cumbria.
The picture above is hand cut paper by a member of the Womens Institute which is celebrating its 100th year.
Look at the intricate work in this little bucket by another member
and this tiny chair decorated with fresh flowers

Here's some of the displays we saw
We put on a bit of a colourful display ourselves with our charity shop find coats and my £8 dress from friend Vicky Brearley at www.vintagevixon.blogspot.co.uk
Stunning display of lupins in one of the marquees
On Sunday we were disappointed that Art on the Prom had to be cancelled due to expected high winds.
As you can see they didn't appear and we took the opportunity to meander along the empty promenade.
They have the most glorious borders that stretch the full length of the walkway.
So after a lovely weekend with friends it was time to head off home
Don't forget to have a look at some desks that actually have some work on them
love that little bucket, thanks for sharing your travels

Such a lot of gorgeous colour - not least from you and your man - that bucket and chair are fantastic! Some people are just so clever. Sounds like you had a brill time away :o) {{Hugs}} xxx
ReplyDeleteI love the little bucket world, and the papercut is lovely, especially the little details on colour on the birds. I've never been to Holker Garden Festival, even though my gardener husband worked on it one summer. I clearly should because it looks fun!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful that little bucket display is.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are having a whale of a time. #31

WOW...thanks for sharing all the lovely photos. I love the little bucked that looks like a Fairy garden. They are quite popular here..some are doing classes on them. The flowers are so beautiful. I took photos of mine yesterday as we had no wind, sunshine and could actually be outdoors. I didn't plant what I normally do as the weather has been so terrible but my Pansy's and Viola, like the cool temps and are thriving. Lots of "IN" time today, storms on the way. Was a fun visit.....Enjoy WOYWW #39
ReplyDeleteOooh...just loving all the photos! I adore that tiny chair. Now I want to make something like that for my dollhouse. Inspiring. Happy Wednesday! Sandy Leigh #44
ReplyDeleteMy favourite part of the world and it looks like the weather was really kind to you. What gorgeous flowers, they really are at their best at the minute aren't they.
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping by earlier.

Lovely photos, Lynn. That's the England I remember, and get nostalgic for. xoxo
ReplyDeleteThe little things that the ladies made are incredible, especially the bucket. What a beautiful place that is and you two look really dapper as well.

Fab post - so colourful - AND such clever ladies - the little hedgehogs in the bucket are my favourite! x Jo

What lovely photos, I bet you had a brilliant time. Love your dress, and just look at all those fantastic blooms. The intricacy of the hand-cut paper design and the cottage in the bucket is mind-blowing - I am far too clumsy and slapdash to ever achieve such delicacy! xxx
