Whats "not" on my workdesk this week

Nothing on my desk as I am busy revamping my bedroom ready for my new crotchet blanket which will be the same as the cushion. The very talented Helen of  http://helencrochet1.wordpress.com is hard at work finishing it off.
The picture is batik with fabric appliqued and embroidered and is by friend and textile artitst Barbara Jepson -  www.barbarajepson.com

I've moved all my junk shop finds around.
Rearranged artwork.  As you can see we have a lot.
Lamp is made by Heather Lawson of  www.hellishdesigns.co.uk.  who makes the most fantastic cushions and lampshades.  I bought two of these ages ago and have had so many lovely comments on them that I got two more for our spare bedroom.
Do you like my sepia wall ?  The lady top right is my Mum. The couple at the bottom are my hubbies parents.  The picture of the two girls is by Hornel one of the Glasgow Boys and i've had it about 30 years.  I got it at an antique fair.  The other pictures are from my days out at Todmorden secondhand market.

I will show you the finished room when my blanket arrives.
For now I wish you all a happy Christmas and thanks for popping by.

Have a look at some of the desks Julia features every week at

    1. I have been collecting Barbara's work for over 10 years and have 10 pieces. They are stunning, people think they are paintings and are amazed when they look close up and see they are fabric. Happy Christmas to you Helen x

  8. I love old photographs so what a treat to see your sepia wall - beautiful. I have one tucked away in the attic of my Dad as a baby - he is wearing a dress. It was a victorian thing to dress all babies in dresses, boys as well until they were 2 and were ready for breeching, he was born in 1908.
Wishing you all the best for Christmas and a happy and peaceful New Year.

  13. The room is looking good and the blanket will certainly finish it off perfectly. I'm now on my 6th blanket since March... all made in "waste" time! I'm so pleased that my DDs really treasure them.
Great to get to know you too Lynne and hope we can get together again in 2013.
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas
