Domesticity, books and blood

WEDNESDAY

Back home from visiting my sister in Oxford and I went on a
cleaning binge starting with the utility room then stripping the
bedding and doing a pile of washing all before breakfast.

Maybe I need to go away more often if it makes me so domesticated.

Postman Sid bought me a lovely parcel. No it’s not cake, it’s a bar of soap,
a birthday gift from my lovely friend Julia, hubby Harry and Toby the Bassett.

THURSDAY

With a promising start to the day I took my morning cup of
tea out into the garden. I had a thank you letter to write and post,
then a blood donation appointment in the afternoon.

Im sorry to say it was a thumbs down for me on this book but if
you fancy a read about cloning and illicit organ donating I’ll send
you the book. Apparently it was made into a film. One I won’t be
watching it.

On my visit to the library on Friday I’ll be looking for something
a lot lighter than this book for sure.

Giving blood is a good excuse to eat biscuits and get out of
doing any chores for a few hours.  Seriously though it’s a small
thing to do that’s means a massive amount to folk and it only
takes a matter of minutes.  The atmosphere is upbeat, so is the
music and the nurses are chatty and caring.

I’ve a list as long as my arm of jobs and errands to do.
Hmm ! Maybe I’ll just go back down to Oxford it was a lot simpler
being there.

Have a lovely weekend. I think the sun is going to
have his hat on. Yippee

  1. Really glad you had a good time with your family and come home recharged. I’ve come home to very many customers all needing their sewing done yesterday so it’s been hectic. Well done you for giving blood...I’ve given 47 pints and my hubby has now given 72 pints.
    Big hugs,
    Annie x

  2. Pleased to see you've arrived home safely even if you have gone a bit crazy! all that housework, you must rest up now over the Bank Holiday. I'm very late today as I've got distracted with stuff but here now. The pressie looks nice, good job you knew it was soap or you might have had a bite. Have a lovely weekend, hugs Angela xXx

  3. Seems I'm even later than everyone else, Lynn. I knew this was going to happen, though. Still, I didn't want to miss another Friday Smiles. Thanks for the shout out. It makes me feel I'm still loved here.

I applaud you on giving blood. I wish I could, but the one time I tried, I fainted and the needle came out of my arm. Seems I have a blood phobia or something. I DID try, though.

So glad you had a good time with your sister in Oxford. I know family is important and I can understand how returning home motivated you .

What a lovely gift. That soap is almost too pretty to use, though. Hope you have a great rest of the weekend, dear.

  4. Look at all your fab outfits, even the dressing gown's a stunner!
    I love that novelty soap.
I'm the oppposite to you, I go on a massive cleaning frenzy before I go away and it starts today!
Thank you for giving blood, I'm sad I can no longer do it (although I always used to faint and make a fool of myself!) xxx
I didn't think that book sounded very tempting.

  5. It's a good thing I saw your Instagram post about giving blood, or your blog title would have had me worried ;-)
I'm loving that cake err soap, and how gorgeous is that frock you are wearing in that final photo! To be honest, that book wouldn't have been my cup of tea either. xxx

  6. It is good to have a positive start to the day. Then you can relax about morning tea in the garden.
Good for you for donating blood. I started when I was a college student, and except for when I was pregnant or breastfeeding a babe, I continued until my medication meant I was no longer suitable. I am sure, right now it is even more important. Kate x
