WHAT’S ON YOUR WORKDESK WEDNESDAY

This may not look like a desk, but at the time of starting my blogpost
I didn’t have a desk to show as it was in bits and pushed to one
side while we rejigged the downstairs rooms.

This was once the office and now has been turned into a
guest bedroom.  It’s all ready for the long awaited visit of my sister
who I haven’t seen for months.

See that wardrobe.  Well lovely as it is, it took two of us
three hours to build it.  As slapdash as I normally am, I’m
ace at self assembly furniture, even though there was a
million parts to it and an instruction book as thick as a novel.

Meanwhile back in the garden we are taking the ivy right back to
the drystone wall.  We’ve been in the house over 30 years and it
was well established then so it’s going to take some shifting.
The plan is to make a little sitting area to catch the morning sun.

Even though the day was beautiful, and the fall of snow we had
earlier disappeared as quickly as it came, it was blumming freezing.
So after an hour working in the garden we retreated back indoors
for a cuppa.

After some shuffling round of stuff for the charity shop and tip
I’ve got my desk set up again.

I’m running up a cover for the garden bench cushion using a
vintage Horrocks bedsheet that I found in a charity shop ages ago.
There’s plenty left for my friend Val to make me a summer outfit.

Just before I go can I show you the twiddle mitt Jo made for a lovely
friend of mine.

You can read what Jo had to say about it here.

The days are getting brighter and lighter
and how lovely that we can now see our families and friends again.
Take care.

  1. I am so glad you share the twiddlemuffs - I can't comment on Jo's blog without signing in to Google so I am glad to be able to say how lovely they are here! That wardrome looks easy - it feels like they could have made it so - well done both of you for the final product. It looks great in the room. And IVY? OMG. Our entire house was covered with creepers when we bought it, clearly designed to hide the crumbling pointing (or maybe what caused it? Who knows!) and getting it off was a challenge. Have fun with that - after the wardrobe, you know you have the sticking power LOL!
    Happy WOYWW day!

  3. This was one of my favourite Twiddlemitts when I saw it on Jo's blog. Hope it is useful and enjoyed by your friend - am sure it will be.
Love the new furniture piece you have put together - did it come ready painted or have you painted it?
That is a fabulous sheet you found - ideal for all you have in mind - look forward to seeing the outfit?
    Hugs, Neet 4 xx

  5. Such a beautiful twiddle mitt indeed Lynn. Good luck with the garden. #1 and #2 sons are supposed to be coming round at the weekend to help us get a grip on ours so I am hoping the weather is kind. Love the colour of the wardrobe - so fresh. Enjoy your sister's visit. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #7

  6. Hi Lynn. Well done on getting the wardrobe made - I'm sure your sister will love her room when she arrives! Have fun with the ivy - oh... a dry stone wall to edge the property - how gorgeous. I love 'em - have always said that one day I would do a project of some kind based on dry stone walls.
    Take care. God bless.

  8. I love your blog, your posts are interesting and you are disciplined to not overload the reader with a million and one photographs (I'm so bad at doing that!) I love the wardrobe and one day I will take your lead, and tidy my workroom!

  9. The twiddle muff is such a lovingly made item 🤍 Well done with tackling the ivy - it can be stubborn but oh so satisfying once you have got back to the stone wall - you'll have to show an 'after' photo 😊

  11. Fancy you being a dab hand with the flat pack furniture! The guest room looks lovely and that wardrobe is ideal for a visitor.
There's something so satisfying about cutting back ivy even though I do love it when it's all overgrown. Definitely not the waether for gardening, my face nearly fell off after our NT trip earlier! xxx

    1. You’ll have to come on another visit so you can stay in it.
We’ve got a skip coming Friday to get rid of all the junk out of the garden and the cut down ivy. Keep your fingers crossed the wall doesn’t fall down xxx

  12. I think flat pack furniture needs lots of hands, so as there is only me around these days I don't do any.... well done on getting it done. Well done on braving the cold to do your ivy hacking! Helen #1

  13. Your guest room looks very inviting, and well done on assembling that wardrobe. Did lots of swearing go on, like it does when Jos and I assemble flat pack furniture?
Wishing you lots of luck with cutting back that tangle of ivy. That looks like an almighty job too! xxx

    1. There was no swearing Ann. I’m so methodical when doing it I amaze myself. It did take three hours though.
Keep your fingers crossed the wall doesn’t fall down. The ivy is unbelievably thick xxx

  15. Your redone spare bedroom looks so calm and pretty, Lynn. The open wardrobe is ideal for a guest room. We've got a tall black shelving unit in the sitting room for DVDs and ornaments and it had hundreds of parts and took us both ages to assemble! I've done quite a few in my time and it's not my favourite thing to do. Well done with the ivy, and what a magnificent view from your house.

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  16. I love that open wardrobe and totally believe the time it took....I can’t do that sort of thing with HIM about because he doesn’t follow the lines and it drives me crackers!! We reclaimed 3ft of garden when we hacked the ivy about, how the fence was holding it all up is a mystery. Very satisfied ting, and lovely to create a sun space because you can train the ivy to shelter you. Shame about the current cold though, isn’t it disappointing. Certainly has slowed up my outdoor visit plans!

  17. Your guest bedroom looks lovely and I really like the wardrobe, especially the colour. I leave all diy to Hubby as he is a very practical person as are Daughters S and K. The other three of us are rubbish at it all!

  18. Stunning twiddler by Jo as always and stunning photo over the mountain. I can imagine that new seating area will be perfect once you've cleared it. Belated visit but still, stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #9
