Friday 1st January 2021
The hands of the clock moved round and here we are into a new year.
Where the heck have the last nine months gone.
In Rossendale Lancashire we are now in Tier 4, so no nipping into the neighbours for a cuppa and a chat now.
It doesn’t really bother us that non essential shops are closed at the moment, but we do miss meeting up with friends for a meal in the pub or a coffee and a cake with my girlfriends.
All I can say is thank goodness for our lovely home, it has been and continues to be our haven.
The day started like any other with Philip up first and bringing me up a cuppa while I wrote up my journal, checked and dealt with emails and had a quick at look social media. Before breakfast of porridge and berries I did my daily Pilates practice then sorted through the washing and wrote a new year card to a friend.
I’m going to start Kate Humble’s latest book later.
After a walk to the post box we spent the afternoon putting the Christmas tat away for another year and deciding whether to get a wall bracket for the telly. It’s been perched precariously on top of the dvd recorder thingymebob for years and it worries me that it’s going to fall off.
The amaryllis arrangement my friend Mo sent us is still looking stunning.
They are quite magnificent.
There’s chilli and wholewheat pasta for tea and we will be watching
Jane Torvill & Christopher Dean in Alaska on telly and will check out the new serial drama The Serpent.
Stay safe and let’s hope 2021 sees us moving forward.
Lynn

ReplyDeleteYour house and those wonderful flowers are gorgeous, a real incentive to stay at home when you love your surroundings.
Jon worked with Kate Humble a few years ago when he used to do corporate events, he said she was very down-to-earth and sweet! xxx
Happy new year to the both of you, if I haven’t already said it.
DeleteLet’s continue to do what we are doing and enjoying our lovely homes. We are so lucky aren’t we.
Imagine Jon working with Kate Humble. It’s a good read. I’ll send it down to you after if you fancy it.

Happy New Year to you and Philip. I enjoyed your antics on Facebook, wearing your coordinating jumpers :-)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you're in Tier 4 now. Apart from browsing the odd charity shop when it's quiet, I don't miss being able to shop either. Our pubs and restaurants have been closed for so long now I can't even remember when was the last time we had a meal, or even a coffee, out.
Your home looks absolutely gorgeous and must be a comfort to you!
