Another day, another new week. Today after breakfast of porridge and berries and a mug of tea we will be putting out the garden gate display for the kiddies and dog walkers to enjoy.
Can’t be having them little ones crying because it’s not there, can we.
I’ve parcels to take to the post office so we decided to drive over the moors to Todmorden to send them and then carry on to the garden centre for compost and plants for Mum. She’s inherited the rusty old wheelbarrow that our neighbour Jack was throwing out.
She’s got just the spot for it and will look good once planted up like the one she has had for the last five years.
This is an old photo of the vintage French dress I wore for our outing. I bought it from a little vintage clothes shop in Hebden Bridge a couple of years ago. I’m to embarrassed to show you my Worzel Gummidge hair fully.. Normal service will be resumed soon hopefully.
Back to the garden centre story. We were not comfortable being there at all, despite the staff being pleasant and the distancing arrows and marks throughout. The first thing I noticed was that nobody was cleaning the trolley handles. We did have to use a hand sanitizer on entering the building and I wore a mask for the first time. I have to say anyone having to wear them all day everyday you are to be applauded. I only wore one for about half an hour and found it sweaty and uncomfortable.
We quickly got what we needed, including this little ladybird for our garden gate display, then shot off back over the moor. After dropping Mum’s stuff off it was back home for a cuppa and some lunch. Felt odd not being able to eat out like we would normally have done before coronavirus days.
We are watching a lot of feel good programmes at the moment. Tonight its Channel 4’s documentary on Devon & Cornwall and a dose of Grow Your Own At Home with Alan Titchmarsh. Even though we are not growing our own hee hee. There has been some fantastic programmes on train journeys around the world. Beautiful scenery, amazing trains but you’d have to be rich to afford them.
It’s funny how 5pm onwards things for us then feel quite normal. It’s because we are still doing what we’ve always done of an evening. A cuppa and a gameshow on telly before I make the evening meal, then the rest of the night generally watching the box, reading, journal writing, checking social media, a little walk of the weather is kind and putting away the garden gate display (well that’s not normally in the equation). If we didn’t watch the teatime news we wouldn’t know any difference.
Spotted this lampshade on the internet the other day, it’s made from feedsacks. Isn’t it fabulous. I think it need one haha.
Stay safe, only do what you’re comfortable with.
