Just as lovely friends Jos and Ann from Belgium were leaving Wales for home we managed to get there and missed them by a day
The purpose of our trip to Ruthin in North Wales was to meet up with friend Tina Gilmore co-owner of Antique Ideology in Montgomery, Wales and to visit the Primmy Chorley exhibition at Ruthin Craft Centre.
Primmy’s exhibition is a lifetime of textile work that has not ever been for sale or is likely to be. It is the wallpaper of her home and is all based on her life and family. Every piece tells a story and is mesmerising and full of the greatest detail.
These pictures do not do the same exhibition any justice at all, it was wonderful and hubby Philip said it’s the best of its kind he’s ever seen.
It was made even better for us as we met up with lovely friend and textile artist Tina Gilmore. Here she is with Jessie Chorley (Primmy’s daughter). A few years ago Jessie ran a workshop at Tina’s place and I was fortunate enough to be on it.
If you are ever near Ruthin be sure to call in Sugar Plum Tearoom and Hombound reclamation Centre. They are well worth a visit.
So sorry you missed your friends but what a wonderful time you must have had with this exhibition.
ReplyDelete;Hugs, Neet xx
It was something you are very unlikely to come across again Neet. A whole life story told out in stitch. Amazing !
DeleteOh Lynn! Quite unsuspecting, I clicked on your blog post, to find my hubby and myself staring back at me! You lovely girl! We too are sorry to have missed you but we won't accept any excuses next year ;-) The Primmy Chorley exhibition looks amazing, and I wouldn't mind having afternoon tea at the Sugar Plum Tearoom! xxx
ReplyDeleteWhat a year it’s been with so much going on Ann. All in a good way except for the work thing which next year will be finished with as we will be retired thankfully. Then Sugar Plum Tearoom here we come haha xxx
DeleteThat looks like a wonderful place to visit, what you've shown us looks stunning! x
