I’ve taken up a new project called STITCH A WEEK put together by LEAH HALLIDAY
Week one is running stitch.
It’s the only running you’ll see me do.
I can’t help it but I never seem to stick to the script.
The aim is to build up a sampler of 50 stitches over the weeks but as usual I’ve gone off piste and will be presenting my stitches in a different form each week, starting with a cut up pair of children’s denims I got for 10p in the charity shop.
you rebel, you! great stitching though. Helen #1
ReplyDeleteHeehee, off-piste is the only way to ski/stitch/run!

What a lovely post ... just keep stitching your way. The end result is uniquely you :)

Love the work Lynn - you're the Queen of thinking outside the box! Enjoy your stitching, I'll be looking forward to your results throughout the year.
ReplyDeleteMorning Lynn. Well done you! Years ago I did a C&G in design and embroidery... that was off piste, too - and definite abuse to the sewing machine!!! I love the way you have presented your running stitch. You will have quite a folder by the end of 2018.
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

Hi Lynn, I do like your rebelliousness. Great use of charity shop find and fantastic way to show off the stitch. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #18
ReplyDeleteLove the stitching. My mum taught me to embroider as a child. The stitching can be used for all sorts of items including sewing up knitting.
ReplyDeleteHa, that made me laugh! You're talking to a fellow rebel here who always goes off piste and very rarely follows instructions :-D. I can't help it, it's just how I am. Love the running stitch on the denim, it looks fantastic!

Ha, can't help it...I tend to say this if the outcome that is intended is not going to be practical or useful, for example - I like the idea of a stitch a week, I already know that I don't want a sampler to stuff in my sewing bag! Likewise, I don't journal..because then what do you do with it?!!
ReplyDeleteI must say, your work room is looking splendid Miss Lynn.
Hi Lynn, putting your own spin on things is what creativity is all about! Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #8 XxX
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab woyww tfs xx Jan 33
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn :) Just visiting from Connie's blog. You are BRAVE...you won't catch me doing so much hand stitching lol!
ReplyDeleteHi Lynn, what a fun project. Have a great woyww, Angela x17x
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time following the rules when it comes to things like this. To me it makes it more fun.
ReplyDeleteThis is a supercool project - no matter how many stitches!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week!
Cheers

I love the idea of learning a new stitch each week, but I don't know much about Instagram . . . I think it is something to do on smart phones, which I don't have. Maybe I'm wrong about that . . . it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong about something, or the second, or the 100th for that matter, LOL. Your little denim pouch is delightful, as is everything you touch:) I have been working on a new quilt and using embroidery thread and that running stitch all through it. I hope to have it finished in a couple of days and will be posting photos. It's bright and colorful and very much BoHo.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of your studio, too. I can't get enough of having a peek into the happy areas where creative people have fun.
Have a sweet day.
Connie :)
Popping over to say hi from Connie's blog! I love your style....and wish I could sew like you, but alas that is not my 'cuppa' tea!
ReplyDeleteLove your denim pocket holder - a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI almost missed you, just spotted you in time.
