What is it ?

Over the weekend we had an overnight stay in Southport where we went to see the 60's band The Hollies at Southport Theatre.  Dopey me thought it was at The Atkinson where we normally go, so we ended up missing the first 20 minutes.  Although the band were not really on my spectrum at the time, I was more into soul music, I have to admit to singing along to almost every song.
In the afternoon we were looking forward to some charity shop rummaging.  Southport must have the most charity shops in the North, but sad to say they were all rammed with M&S gear, George & TU.  The only bit of vintage I found was a Richard Stump jacket that was so boring I wouldn't have given it house room.
I did pick up this wicker basket for a couple of quid though and this little lady who looked like she needed a kind arty farty eclectic type home to live in. How could we leave her there looking so forlorn with a £2 price tag on her.  Mr Dappper Chap has renamed her Iris Lavender. We didn't think Hazel which was on her tag suited her.
I'm going to give her a new hairdo, she looks like she's been pulled through a bush backwards. Poor love.

The next day we called in Bygone Times at Eccleston, Chorley. If its your first visit it will cost you £2.50 each to get in then return visits are free.
Last time we were there I picked up a set of drawers that needed new handles for £8. I made some out of beads and wire.
I must have picked the magazine rack up twenty times and in the end could not resist it.  Its going to hold some neatly cut pieces of craft paper ready for my workshops.

This basket had to come home, its sat on the kitchen table now with a plant in it until I decide if its going outside or not.
One trader had a whole stand devoted to music scores and as its something I've often struggled to find, these books were snapped up as the paper is lovely and old and the books are really thick so loads of sheets to craft with.
This Colin Gascoe dress was a bargain labelled at £15 and an even bigger bargain at £7.50. It was half price. The same went for the J. Oscar Sharpe blouse I nearly bought on our last visit, it came in at £9. I'm glad I waited.
Right, you have now got to guess what this is.  I know but do you ?
As usual I will not being using it for its true purpose.

  1. I would wear that Colin Gascoe outfit in a heartbeat!

I'm stumped as to what that hanging wood thingee is.

  2. I love that magazine rack; its so cheerful and definitely a keeper. Great clothes buys too - J. Oscar Sharpe sounds far more glamorous than Richard Stump!

As for that hanging wooden contraption, I can genuinely say that I'm stumped too as to its use!

  6. First thoughts were a candlestick thing (sconce?) to fit on the wall but then I changed my mind and am drawing a blank. Love your other purchases though and have envy over the music - now do I want to pay £5.00 for us both to go in just for me some music?
Remember Bob (drummer) fondly from The Queens in Rawtenstall way back more years than I am prepared to put on here.
    Hugs, Neet xx

  7. Hi Lynn. Looks like you've had a fun time away and found lots of fab bargains. I know you've hung your mystery object on the wall but it looks like a boot puller to me?
    Hugs,

  8. Damn, I'm kicking myself. I had loads of vintage music scores when I cleared my parents' house out, which I would have loved you to have. I'm going to have a scout round to see if any remain. That magazine rack is lovely, but I am quite mystified by the wooden thing! I'd love to see you modelling the Colin Gascoe :) xxx

    1. I'd love the music scores if you find any Tania, they will be great for my craft workshops. When Mr Dapper Chap gets back from working in Basingstoke I'll get him to take some pics of me in the Colin Gascoe. xxx

That little doll is a beauty and I'd have snapped up that sweet plant basket, too.
I'm pretty sure there's some musical scores over at Dad's, I'll go and check, if they're still there then they're yours! xxxx
PS What's that thing for? Don't keep me in suspenders! x

    1. You'll have to wait a bit long Vix to find out what the "thing" is as I am throwing out to the lovely crafting folk who show us what they are working on at their desks tomorrow.
I'd love the music scores if you find them, thank you. Tania's having a look for some too.

  10. Loving your purchases, especially the magazine rack.
No real clue about the wooden thing - perhaps some sort of lantern holder - but maybe you have it upside down ? ;)
