TIDY WORKSPACE = CREATIVE MIND

Happy new year everyone
I am giving myself the whole of January to get my workroom in order.
I can't find anything, including the carpet and I am a person who needs a clear space to be able to create.
TIDY WORKSPACE = CREATIVE MIND
This is the teeny tiniest bit of my stuff. Multiply it by 10 at least and add on another room which is even worse.
I quickly realised that I would not get it done in a couple of days as I am such a faffer.
Things take me forever to do because I get easily sidetracked, like realising these old wooden pegs would make great holders for ribbons, wires and threads.
Once I've gone through all my stuff and possibly moved everything round the studio
I want to go through my books.  This will, of course, end up with me looking through them all.
So you can see why it will take all of January, apart from the time spent doing my first workshop on the 16th.
But more of that next week. For now I better crack on.
That is after a quick cuppa and a look at what everyone else is doing at their desks this week.

  2. Hi Lyn, it's always good to have a great cleanup so you can start afresh for the new year...but I do understand how long that can take when you have sideways distractions, me too. Enjoy your week RobynO#21

  3. I'm chuckling Lynn cos yesterday I cleared the surfaces and dusted in my sewing room to help find my Mojo buy alas as yet he's still in hiding. I will be sorting my cupboards out too so we will be busy together even if in different rooms :-)
Really hope we can all have lots of creative fun time in 2016.

  5. Happy New Year to you and your family, Lynn! I think it is a good idea to start a new year with clearing up one's working or living space. Good luck with that!

  6. Know all too well how that feels - my stuff is now in virtually every room since I have had to clear the conservatory 'studio' but that means I will HAVE to get organised x Jackie 26

  8. That looks pretty neat to me! But I know what you mean about the relationship between tidiness and creativity. A clear workspace is always more inviting. Have fun tidying! Those pegs were made for holding ribbons and twine! Happy WOYWW! zsuzsa #39

  9. I spent the last 2 weeks moving my craft room from the basement to the attic, it's all nice and tidy now, have to wait and see for how long though. I totally understand the distractions, but hay maybe you get truly inspired while cleaning up and finding long forgotten treasures. Good luck. Vicky#9

  13. It really is a great thing to get your space cleared out and reorganized. I have a tiny space, so I have to do it more often...but I always know when it's time. This month, I am ordering some Ikea systems to redo my clothes closet. Can't wait! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #41

  14. I find it difficult to work in clutter as well (so I have to be super disciplined with myself and I have a clear-up at least every month.) Good luck with it - at least you'll remind yourself of what you have and it will breathe new creativity into your work. < Which looks amazing, by the way!

  17. It's fun to go through your stash and check it all out the bad thing is that it inspires us along the way to start using it NOW!! or we might forget and put it away again it's a process that you should just enjoy, I'm with those with a small space so you have to stay organized to create or you loose your desk lol

  19. I had planned to visit last night, but right after I linked to Julia, my electricity went off. It came back on a short time ago, so now I'm trying to catch up with everyone.

I have promised myself to stay on top of organization this year, although I also get easily distracted. You sound a lot like me when I organize, too. Happy WOYWW from #1.

  20. I get it! I think most of us need to do some tidying up. I generally get mine done over Christmas but with a shortened break, time did not allow.Any you are not the only one who get side tracked! Enjoy the time in your room and hopefully you will find lost treasure that will inspire you to craft something amazing! Diane #35

  21. Ah but that's a good idea.. I think a lot of us become manic about getting it done because we don't allow enough time! And the horror at the bit where it gets worse before better is just awful! I get it though, I'm with you on the faffing. Especially the books. Good luck!

  22. That's what I need as well....a whole month...and, it is already a full week into it...yikes! I need to dust out a doll cabinet/curio and all the dolls and teddies... they get it about once a year. Then... clean up the desk...oh, man...where is that thing? the desk...it is buried...... sigh...... maybe February? .......

  23. Ohhhh...I really like the idea of giving yourself time to tidy up and/or do whatever is necessary in the studio before moving on with new projects for the year. I might just do that myself! :D
