Friday Smiles

This is Bert, his owner is our local postmaster.
Bert likes to keep a check on his weight while he's at
work as he has a weakness for biscuits
It's hard work guarding the money
and looking cute for the customers all day

Happy Weekend
Everyone

I've just popped back to add this....
I've had a perpetual desk calendar since 1997 and the saying today is

"Today, serve the Lord by serving others.
There are many who need the assistance that only you can offer"

Underneath it in 2013 I wrote

"I have done.  I did the VAT return, something Philip can't do haha"

Crikey, I'm back again ..... I've just realised I'm helping my Auntie sort her paperwork today.  I should write that on the calendar as well

There's some more Friday Smiles

WHAT'S ON MY WORKDESK.....

This is how the reorganising feels this week
I'm putting things that I think may have possibilities in a box/book
These are photo's I took in Croatia years ago.
The ends of strings of beads should have gone in the bin but I'm glad they didn't they put me in mind of the fishing nets on the photo's.
More possibilities this time in some fabric I designed and printed on a workshop.
The felt flowers and stitch pickers are for my next workshops.
I made the pink hanging from my own printed fabric and a cut up piece of old tray cloth when I got bored with sorting out.
The one below is from scraps I couldn't bring myself to throw out.

Time for a look around for more inspiration
at Julia's weekly desk sweep

Felt Like Revamping

This is a felt wall hanging I made from scratch for my final project
during my HND Textile Design Diploma twelve years ago.

I could never bring myself to throw it out and came across it again
while I've been sorting and reorganising
I still can't get rid of it so I have decided to revamp it with some
machine embroidery and beading
I may put a backing on it as well.
I've made a start on the bottom end
Let's see how it goes

Would you wear a red coat

Two of my friends blogged about wearing red coats, which got me to thinking would I ?
Well of course I would because I don't like being left out and I'm not afraid of wearing colour.
http://vintagevixon.blogspot.co.uk/
The thing is though I haven't got one. Well not a proper full length coat. I've got a jacket does that count ?

We will be off to the Vintage Village Market at Stockport on Sunday 14th February,
then over to the Vintage Emporium at Pear Mill after for lunch and a browse round,
if I don't find one there then its back to the charity shops

MY KIND OF ART .....

The end of January is approaching and I am getting
near the end of my reorganising and clearing.
Well as much as I'm going to do for now.
I'm even allowing the odd creative hour to sneak in.
Sorting through the fabric stash is drawing me towards
making little art wall hangings
One of my favourite occupations is putting things together,
seeing what works.
Layering, colour matching, texture matching, using
simple hand and machine stitching

SORTING MY LACY DRAWERS

If you follow me you will know that I have been organising and clearing
my workroom(s) since the beginning of January.
Well part of today's job was sorting out my lace drawers.
As usual I got sidetracked and started faffing around with bits of fabric that I could not bring myself to throw out, so I made a new mood board. Its my intention to redo my wall of mood boards once all the sorting has been done. I'll show you the wall another time.
By 3.30pm I'd had enough of my duties so decided to have a little play.
I'm going to add some more stitching to it later as I'm not quite happy with it.
Hubby Philip says there's a lot of singing and dancing about going on, no wonder its taking you so long. Add the faffing about to that and he is probably right.
Still tomorrow is another day.
Have a great weekend everyone.
