This is a card I've made for a school friend who is 60 this week.
I've used one of my own photographs and machine stitched onto it.
How did we get to this age so quickly.
No big party for me where you can't hear each other speak because of the booming music. No, mine will be far more exciting and go on for months with lots of events like picnics, afternoon teas, trips out, visiting friends, family holidays.
I've got a book full of plans hee hee.
But for now I'm off to the post box.
Don't forget to have a look around the crafters desks over at Julia's blog
What a gorgeous little book and how wonderful to have a long a birthday as possible. My 50th latest about 2 months by the time I had done everything. Have a great one!

Oh yes, I agree Lynn...spread the celebations out as long as possible.Cute book!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't got my usual day with the twins today as it's half term hols here but I'm off for a fun few hours with all 5 of my Grandies at Amy's later so am catching up with my fav blogs before I go. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove the card you've made Lynn and I'm with you for celebrating 'big' birthdays. Spread it over weeks and enjoy lots of special times.
Hugs,
Annie x # 22
Love the idea of a book for the big year of plans, and the embroidery is lovely....far more colourful than the bird on my blog! How did you get to this year so fast? I dunno. I blame the kids.
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea - a whole year of events to celebrate your 60th. Maybe a visit to Todmorden market might get in on the act.
ReplyDeleteLovely idea to use a photo for the background of that special card and I just love your birthday book.
Hugs, Neet 26 xx
Todmorden is a must. Secondhand market on a Thursday and afternoon tea in Taste Tearoom Neet. Are you joining me ? X
DeleteA lovely card for your friend, Lynn. The answer to your question? No idea at all - I'm convinced in my head that I'm still around 21 - just my knees that aren't so convinced!!
ReplyDeleteWhen it arrives have a wonderful, long lasting, multi-celebratory birthday! We did similar for our 40th wedding anniversary - decided to see how many of our Christmas card list we could actually meet in the year. Managed over half, so not too bad. Didn't manage any of our foreign friends, though. Boo hoo!
Take care. God bless.

ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW. Loving the Birthday Book, plus the card/envie. I keep saying I am going to attempt some machine embroidery, but not got round to it yet. Ali x #43
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea, gosh most of the time everyone is to busy with Christmas and tend to overlook my birthday regardless of the significance of it. Hey it is the week before Christmas exactly. So when is your birthday? we don't get old, we age just like wine and only get better. Love your cards what a clever idea.
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW

DeleteI think extending a milestone birthday all month long is the right thing to do! Love that you have lots of fun plans and a cute little stitched book to record all the good times in. That's a great card for your friend. Happy celebrating! Judy # 57
ReplyDeleteIt's lasting a year Judy. Why scrimp haha
DeleteYour friend is going to treasure that card. And your birthday book is brilliant--what a great plan to celebrate such a special birthday. Maybe I should do this for no. 55 coming up in November! I just love a bird embroidered with a flower stitch--I can't quit looking at it! Hugs! Sandy Leigh #45
ReplyDelete55 is a must for celebrating and so are all the ones in between sandy
DeleteI love the card Lynn - did you change the thread colours or is it some sort of rainbow coloured cotton - if it is I've only ever seen that in wool - it looks beautiful! Your birthday book is a great idea as well as being gorgeous - and how lovely to see one of your little birdies again!
ReplyDeleteIt's a variegated sewing thread Diana. I've got a few different colours
Deletesounds like a great way to spend your "big" year!! Love the card. Helen #6
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely book. I love the little bird.
ReplyDeleteOh brilliant! The card is fun, but your little "ideas book" is gorgeous. Did you embroider the little birdie yourself? Being a bookbinder, I have "a thing" for books of all kinds... show me a cute book and I'm your friend for ever! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my LizzieMade blog and the nice comment you left me.
Enjoy your birthday planning!
My friend Susan made the book over Lizzie

I love the card, you're so clever and a whole year of celebrating sounds like a perfect plan to me. Your book is gorgeous, sewn doodly birds, gotta love that.

Gorgeous Lynn. Do you use a sewing machine to stitch into your cards of is it done by hand? x
