Look at what the clever craft club members of Sunnybank Day Centre made.
Susan came up with more wonderful facts, this time on FLOWERPOTS.
Did
you know that they were first used in Eygpt and that years ago people
baked bread in them. Mrs Shaw told us about her mother who used to bake bread everyday in a large terracotta pot, which needed 7lb of flour. I have seen scones made in them, and delicious
they were too. We must'nt forget those old favourites... Bill and Ben the Flowerpot Men.
My very accomodating husband
emulsioned the outside of the pots for me, while I was out enjoying
myself at the Antique Textiles Fair in Manchester on Sunday. Then the members firstly drew their own design on the outside of the pot, coloured it in with felt pens, then stuck felt shapes on to give it added interest.
Lastly they planted up these lovely Primulas that we got from GORDON RIGGS at Kingsway for 60p each. The pots cost 60p each as well.
92 year old Lily did a lovely design on hers |
Everyone was thrilled to bits with the results.
Lovely!, nothing like a bit of flower pot painting to put a bit of 'spring' in your day!
ReplyDeleteA few years ago when I did craft fairs, I used to paint and decorate pots with big fabric bows around the rims, they were quit popular!
They are beautiful! Thank you x
